Hey y'all.

I've got a 2nd Sequoia with 260k.  It's got the toyota 5.7 and has been fairly bulletproof in the 75k that I've had it.

However- after retuning from valvoline oil change place last week......I got a check engine, traction control and another light. The traction control light is flashing.  After perusing the ole interwebs- apparently toyota in their wisdom makes all 3 come on once you have an evap issue.  The most common issue is a worn out gas cap.

I have just ordered a code reader (I own toyota V8's, I haven't needed a code reader for a while...) but in the meantime I replaced the gas cap just in case.

Here's the weird part, initially the ECU was obviously pulling timing because suddenly merging on the interstate and accelerating was an adventure.  These trucks are generally faster than they deserve to be, but it was a dog after the lights came on.  The light has been on since Sunday morning and today I have all the power back, but the lights are still on...weird right? My guess is that it no longer things the problem is catastrophic, and perhaps the light will go off on it's own? It's also been cooler and rainy today.

Has anyone been through this with a yota before?

On our Rav4, a misfire code (like from a bad coil) lights up just about everything in the dash. I'd recommend waiting on that code reader to see what the code is, then take it from there.

Like he said, hard to tell without a code reader.

My 07 rav4 would freak the berkeley out when the battery started to get weak.  But you should check this as it could be timing related.

Get the code reader and find out.

Honestly that's what I thought it was. The oil change place said battery was weak so I grabbed a new one at Costco- I was surprised this was not the issue.

Swing by a local auto parts store, most of them can scan it for you

Wait- so the lights came on *after* the oil change and also after the new battery was installed?

Gas cap seems like a likely suspect.  Have you driven it a bit after replacing?
