I would like to try 200tw tires on my NC1 after using ECS's for the last couple of years and saw TR has some RE-71RS on closeout that are 2020 mfg date.  According to the chat CSR, they were made before the RS was released in the US.  The use case is 5 -6 autocross weekends and a few TNIA events (finally did two last year) for fun.  Most street miles are driving to events and errands around town in good weather.  Car has FM springs/bars/Koni yellows/stock wheels and I was pleased with the improvement going from high performance all seasons to the ECS's, so I'm interested in what 200's feel like.  Being cheap and not worrying about trophies, do I need to worry about starting with "old" tires?  I would likely take advantage of TR's heat cycling service when placing the order.

Thanks.

I think you'll be just fine

Are they actually RS or the original R? Tire rack chat has steered me wrong on the specifics of old stock tires before (though my situation was a bit more nuanced) so I'd be very clear about exactly what you're getting. Aside from that, as long as you're not expecting to win they should be just fine.

In reply to dps214 :

I tried chat again and they were confident it's the RS.  I found a '20 review from Australia, so I guess they were available then.  We'll see what shows up in a few days.

Should be fine.

If the dates don't match up, you can return them.  I've done it before.
