Unfortunately, we will not be able to make the trip back this year. I'll be watching for the updates on the internet.
70 days to go.....10 weeks.....2.3 Months.....19.178 % of a year....No matter how I say it, I am still 9 days behind schedule!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Okay, I feel better now.

I hear you. my car was a running car 3 weeks ago. Now, it looks like every fastener on the car disappeared and all the pieces just fell off in the garage!
Yep, we are finally going to start turning wrenches this weekend on the car, we are right there with you guys.
That's not good. We're waaaay behind. It's time for us to dig in our heels and make this pile of metal into a car.
Although, we did just get a MIG welder donated, and we're making some desperately-needed money on the Civic partout.
Gaah - mine still doesn't run yet, and its gotta be roadworthy enough to make the 800 mile trip down, compete, and come back

BAH we took a car from shell to running driving race car in a week, that's with working a full 40hr week and two of us adopting two kids the week before.....of coarse, it did lock the diff on the last drag run due to us forgetting to put fluid in it. Sometimes lack of sleep can be a bad thing. 2 months is plenty of time.
Our Lexus V8 Miata has been running like a dream for weeks (months?), we are almost done with our suspension tweaks and tuning, and the bodywork is about 80% complete. Our current schedule even has time to SLEEP (at night, no less!) during the last week of September.
Unfortunately, this is just plan B form, and plan A still needs lots of work...so we're still very, very busy. On the bright side, we have a plan B this year!
A couple of days ago I drained green gas and black goo out of Uranus. It started right up, drove great, smelled coolent, blew a heater hose off.... Now time to find the time to work on it...
Two possibilities for 2010. Stock 1990 Miata with body damage. 91 RX-7 with 350 if it gets built in time. Efforts have been diverted to new garage being built. Ain't it funny how time slips away. The Miata is running and going to autocross. It's ready.

I'm still fixing frame rust, and then need to do the engine swap. I'm also working by myself, and can't take a week off work to work on the car. I'm not giving up yet, but like I said its not looking good.

Didn't take the week off, heck I still pulled almost 40 hours that week, (missed some time due to the challenge being on friday.) that being said, I think I counted it up, and had something in the neighborhood of 10hours of sleep that week. by the time friday night at the hotel hit, I was gassed.
I got most of mine done except for the wiring, oh well maybe 2011. At least I still have last years car and can do some work on it.
I am still NOT working on my saab for the moment. Sometimes it is best to take some time off and give each other some space...
So, our Team External Combustion Miata did well at last year's event, but by the end of the competition, it was sounding hurt. It was puking various fluids from various orifices, and we were pretty damn sure we broke the engine in some way. Well, this weekend, like I mentioned earlier, we FINALLY started to turn some wrenches on the car.
First, we wanted to pull the motor to clean up the engine bay and see what happened to it. We started to take off all the necessary items to pull the engine, starting with the turbo setup. Well, we found the source of our engine noises (hint- DANGER TO MANIFOLD!!!):
Yeah, we effed up our cheap Ebay manifold pretty bad. Besides the obvious chunk missing, it cracked pretty much everywhere there was a weld . Apparently, these things are pretty much just for show and not actual use. Luckily, we are switching to a better (and cheaper) cast iron setup this year. I think we are going to brace it better as well.
