Im stumped here.
Factory lights. Halogen projector setup.
Passengers side is a tyc replacement housing, drivers is mazda.
Both housings clear and polished.drivers side is so dim it barely shows on the wall 5 feet away. On the road, pnly about 30feet of illuminated rad is visible at night. The lights are definitely aimed low.
Ive only found one adjuster per housing that does nothing. On either housing.
Ive been unsuccessful in finding info on goole concerning the adjusters.
New housings are money.
Ideas?
You say Halogen but could it be that the lights are HID/Xenon?
My reason for asking is that HID bulbs don't as much "burn out/quit completely" but rather they just fail to be bright leaving you with dim headlights.
I went to RockAuto and they show both listings for Halogen and HID for '12 Mazda6 complete with pictures of the bulbs which have different connectors. Pull one of your bulbs and compare.
I have 2 nearly identical Prius in my fleet. You wouldn't notice the difference from the exterior but one has Halogens and the other is a higher option model that has HIDs. My guess is for the '12 Mazda6, HIDs were either optional or part of a higher model package too.
I should also note that on my Prius, it is not just a bulb difference. The entire connectors are different. You can not just put a Halogen where a HID should be and visa versa. Only the proper bulb with proper connector will fit.
I'm reasonably certain they are not hid as this car doesn't have the motorized level adjusters on the housings the hid would have. In addition they don't do the Flicker and warm up when you turn on the lights they're full intensity as soon as you turn the switch. I will go ahead and look at the back of the bulbs but that requires pulling the inner fenders to get to the low beams bulbs. Whoever decided that was a good design need slapped.
The factory correct way to change a bulb on a Prius involves removing the front bumper cover. Yeah. Sucks.
The only way to change the whole head lamp assembly on the Prius requires some bumper removal.
The HIDS alot of modern cars dont get the flicker and warm up like older HIDs did
If the housing is like the one on my 3 there’s a metal clip that holds the bulb in and is a pain to install. If its not attached the bulb might have backed out or shifted.
Dying HID bulbs will turn a pinkish/red color instead of white.
