Also noted: Had Gutty not broke in the drags, they would have smoked everyone. Ouch.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda? If they didn't have an ol' beat up engine that couldn't take boosts, maybe they would have run out of budget for other improvements. Battle of compromises makes it a challenge...of course, bad luck is just bad luck. I also don't know that they would have smoked the top 3, I don't think their car would have been as fast in the drags as you're guessing. I'm guessing they were hoping the drags were rained out on Saturday once they realized their engine was toast on Friday.

Gutty will be back with the car improved, they are aware of what it takes as past winners of the Challenge
we did the best with what we had..(team gutty).....we USED to have a rods/pistons "built" engine in the car, but it had problems year ago
I think luke calculated we'd have needed a 13.1 or so in the 1/4 mile...it'd still have been CLOSE , and I don't know if we had the car to win. Its awesome to see a culkin monster win... Man they've got serious power and sorting done there
I couldn't come this year due to work and family, but I'm looking forward to next year!

And if we could have sorted out the high rpm break up, you should have posted at least a 16 in the drag portion.
I have a question...
How is the math working for the dynamic scoring?
Pat had the fastest combined time. Shouldn't his dynamic score be 100? (It's 75.211)
It looks like it is set up so that the highest possible overall score is 100 (including concourse). Isn't the highest possible overall score 125?
If this were corrected it would cause the following changes in rank: 8 to 9, 9 to 8, 11 to 14, 12 to 11, 13 to 12, 14 to 13, 17 to 18, 18 to 17, 19 to 22, 21 to 19, 22 to 21. The error ( if it was an error) devalued the Dscore.

That's my point.
Finishing in the top 1/2 of the field (16th) felt great. I know where improvements need to be made and hope to make top dozen in 2014.
I have gone through and updated the GRM $2013 Challenge results. There was an issue with one of the values in the spreadsheet that was corrupted which through off the total scores. The values have been corrected and the new results posted.
Thanks for hanging in there with us as we worked to sort it out. Systems will be in place next year for this to not happen again.
Thanks.
So, I placed 7th overall. Very happy.
And I KNOW I've got room for improvement. I can go a little faster in the AutoX, and do much better in both the drags and concourse.
So, lets see... If I could push from 5th to 2nd in the AutoX... add 5 points to my concourse, and hatchet 3 full seconds off my drag times (whew! that sounds like a LOT of work)...
...I STILL WOULDN'T GET A TOP 3 FINISH!
This game is REALLY hard!
I tip my hat to the top finishers! You guys are really awesome!!
