On a non course-related note, I think the Neon made it to Cleveland only by the grace of God. I had already purchased all the steel-braided hose and AN fittings to re-make the oil lines for the turbo, but the emergency transmission swap pushed that task down the line a bit. I was out in the garage tonight working on getting the oil feed line removed and the new one made up and after I got it off the car I barely put the tiniest bit of lateral pressure on the old line and it snapped in half. So that's how all that oil was escaping!
!!!
I've driven home long distances with engines ready to go, transmissions that broke two miles after I got home, rearends that were bone dry after splitting the case, had an electrical fire after I parked the car, drove 130 miles with a two piece differential pinion shaft and the rearend didn't lock up until I got home...
Never came home on a hook after breaking halfway there. I think my mutant superpower is cars NOT breaking if they are tasked with getting me home.
Did you happen to see why the steering was shifting around? I still think it might just be oil soaked mounting bushings but given how ROUGH the courses were, maybe not.

Haha! Well, I'm glad I wasn't the one to break your streak!
I haven't gotten in to the steering yet -- I can live with that more than I can live with the oil spray, so it's next up on my list. Nothing really felt loose when I grabbed the wheels and shook after I got it up on stands, but I know that the wheel bearings are getting close to needing replacement, the ball joints need to go, and the steering bushings/bearings up in the strut top hats could use a refresh. The whole rack is completely bathed in oil, though, so I'd be surprised if there isn't pretty severe intrusion.
