2015 cars
They're sisters under the skin.
There's not that much hard data here, but I really like the looks of the front end of the Alfa.
I like the rear pillars or pods or whatever you call them, but after seeing what it did to the soft top on the GM models I'm not so enthused.
I even like the Alfa's choice of motor. There's room for relatively easy more power.

All signs look good as far as im concerned.
All signs except it looks as if the Alfa won't come with the 6MT. WTF.....one would think the EURO car would have the M/T, since everyone in Europe pretty much drives stick.
What is the point of this vehicle without an manual option? Seriously, if they can't be bothered to design their own, isn't there some off the shelf option from Getrag or whomever. Stupid.
If 2200lb and turbo 1.4-1.6l engines @ ~170hp are the new miatas specs that will be one hell of a good ride.
Looks great other than those dreadful chrome wheels on the Alfa! They look like American Racing wheels from 1994 that belong on a Grand Am.

In reply to sethmeister4:
I bet Enkie will step right up and offer some RFP1's in the right sizing and offset to take care of this.
i hope that if the alpha is not manual that it is at least a DCT then I may still buy it. would be nice if the 1750 turbo engine becomes available for it but that wo uld be 4C territory i guess
wow.. I reading the comments on that link. Seems a -lot- of people do not like the shield grill on the Alfa. I guess they have no idea on it's history and significance

Not a surprise. People on the internet always hate how a car looks.

Still no real pictures, so still no real news.
Well if comes out under 30k, manual trans, and with that 8C front end, I would buy one as a daily. Utility and MPG be damned.
I love the looks of the Alfa grille. But if I was Alfa, I'd put an entirely different motor in there to accentuate the differences. A small V6 would be perfect.
The cars will look nice if the renderings hold true. engine doesn't seem too exciting though. Nearly the same output as the current model, just with more complexity.

I think the Alfa V6 may be an option for a later model, then again the older Alfa Spiders didn't have the V6 in them, but would have been pretty damned cool if they did.
Interesting but mostly Alfa news. Not that that's bad.

Yes, but in a car that weighs 300lbs less.

And with a simple upgrade path for power. No expensive turbo kit to buy & install.
Only thing I don't like about the MX5 is the Bangle-esque fold where the front fender meets the door. I hope they'll get rid of that before it hits production, I'm sure it won't help manufacturing costs either. The hood's also has the domed Bangle look but aftermarket hoods could break that up.
If it's really that light and that powerful it's a car I'd consider buying (if I had the money...I'm always talking theoreticals when I say that ), those specs are very much in line with the NA/NB and I like the looks better than the NB...but now here's the thing, it's going to have many of the same problems as, and will also have to compete with the Toyobaru. It'll be compared to used cars in terms of cost and specs. And it'll probably cost about the same as the Toyobaru, so how many people will instead go for a much more practical car with a little more power and weight? I have to say, I would. I'm not the kind of person who would drop $25k on a 2-seater toy so easily.
