2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 details leak, and it's going to have 620 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque
I want to know if they achieved that naturally aspirated leaving room for a blown ZR1 above. That's impressive.
Is that an actual 2015 model that's camo'd in the pic? I can't believe they changed body styling already. I bet it looks exactly the same as the current model under the covering, padding and dazzle paint.

They are hiding all the extra scoops and wings that they added to keep the thing from leaving this earth.

Or that enable it to.
I'm sort of wondering (as above) if its supercharged, but unless they increased the displacement (7L is huge already...) I don't think they could have gained 145hp and 175ftlbs in n/a form. The Viper's 8.4L makes "only" 600ftlbs. I suppose there's a chance they converted it to DOHC, but I doubt that.

Suburb. Sounds superb!

As a viper owner, the stock heads and block are terrible. Porting the heads, a mild cam and a tune puts almost 650lb's to the rear wheel.
Personally I think the Italian overlords kept the power down on the motor so it would not steal sales.
Don't forget the new vette engines are now direct injected. That makes a crap ton more power in all the right places due to the highercompression and better fuel control.

yup... no need for any goofy drives for extra cams when you get more energy out of each drop of fuel.

I doubt it. How many people cross shop Vipers with Italian exotica? 2 different markets. Any horsepower left on the table will be found in future models.

You'd be surprised. A lot of people cross shop those types of cars. Of course, you also run into the real lucky people that just buy both.

Well, wearymicrobe himself was shopping Aston Martins and ended up buying a Viper. I think a lot of people are surprised when someone dropping that much money on a car is really looking for something to enjoy, not just something to impress people at the club. (not saying that's what you think, just it's true.. $100k cars are often just bought to enjoy.)

The LS7 in the C6 Z06 already made 505hp. And that motor is already approaching 10 years old.
I can see direct injection, bigger cam, heads that flow better, etc making another 20% in the power dept.
I understand the ZR1 being supercharged but why the Z06? The Z06 is a road racers edition and forced induction on large displacement engines just eliminates it from so many classes.

Guess they didn't feel the could develop the LS7 much further for this generation? No idea.

Is there an actual citation available from a legitimate source?

That's what I figured. Jalopnik throwing journalism out with the bath water to garner page views and spread rumors.
