I admit I giggled.

Awesome, I like it.

This board cracks me up...not long ago there was a thread where they might bring the Grand National back and people bitched about no manual. Now this has a manual option and people bitch about both the manual and the automatic. Sometimes it's like a bunch of women PMSing around here.

Lol! Waiting for the "I don't like the cheap plastics in the interior" crowd to weigh in....

I guess everyone's different, but I just wanted to add this about the whole "it's too big to be fun with a manual." I disagree. There is no such thing as "too big to be fun with a manual." I recently had the "opportunity" to drive an absolute POS 2000 Ford F-150, and it was indeed a POS in every conceivable way, but it had a manual transmission. And it was fun.

I think a 6-speed SS would be a hoot, but I doubt they sell many.

I agree. I have driven the automatic version and it's like you say more of a sporty cruiser type than a sports car. It's one of the few cars I can think of where if I had to drive it on a daily basis I would prefer an automatic. Frankly, it's just too big and ponderous for my tastes.

If I worked for GM rather than Chrysler, I would drive this.

I know of a Chevy dealer that has an '11 Caprice with 8000 miles on the odometer sitting on the lot.. it's a V8 car and I want it bad, but I can't swing the payment and insurance for it right now..

P71 - great, Needs more T56.
CTS-V - awesome.

... SS manual? Too big.

Le sigh

manual>automatic. I tried to talk my wife into a mazda 5 because manual and she looked at em but they were too small. Both my other cars are manual (other than the minivan) even the HUGE e28 M5(lol). I searched for three months for a rwd manual 4 door sedan for under 10K before I found anything (the M5). More manuals available on the road is always a good thing.

Hmmmm . . .

Great chassis + manual + special sauce shocks =

The G8 GXP has returned . . .

The only thing stopping me from trading in the CTS-V right now, is the car payment to park one in my driveway.

it's a weird crowd... i don't see how anyone can think these cars are "big".. they seem tiny to me for a full size car- about the same size as my 84 Regal T Type, except they look skinnier and taller. also, they weigh more- which is why they desperately need a manual trans..

Apparently interior wise the SS is quite large. Larger than its competitors overall and yet it still manages to weigh in pretty decent.

Pontiac G8 was the VE Commodore. Chev SS is the current VF Commodore. Exterior styling and mechanical changes but same chassis. Also the same chassis as the Camaro.

I'm not so sure why some are complaining so much about this car. It is GMs Chevy sports sedan so it should be cheaper than a CTS and gives us more sports sedan options, especially with the 6-speed in 5+ years. Companies don't make many small sports sedans anymore. Hell, even the new VW GTI feels like a mid-sized sports sedan instead of a compact hatchback that it used to be.

it's the internet... people complain about everything- even things they have always wanted.

Finally saw one in person last night (in red) and it's a pretty damn good-looking car.

I just wonder if many others will sell. No one bought the G8 while the collective loved it. The collective is "meh" on the SS and would pony up $45k on something else, methinks.

i've seen a lot of G8's- i'm pretty sure they sold every one they imported, just like the GTO that "nobody" bought.

Being GM you probably just need a Camaro SS TR6060, a reflashed computer, the clutch pedal, and maybe a crossmember.
