I really need to mark this on my calendar for next year.
Driving down from Pittsburgh tomorrow. First time camping. Can I buy tickets and get into the track at any hour of the night? Or is there a deadline to get in and camp?
We've always gone to a hotel first and arrived at a respectable time the next day. Roughing it this year.
We just checked in to the hotel across from Coker Tire in Nooga. Already a troop of Triumphs here and a race prepped Citreon.
I'll get some pics after we get our stuff to the room
So...Coker Tire museum? Yeah, it's that cool.
And if you're friends with Tim and Margie, they serve you dinner.
I've got a ton of photos but it's such pain to link from mobile that you'll have to wait for the bulk of them.
The gate at the track is open all night, but I am not sure they sell tickets all night. Damned good question though. You can call the track to confirm.
My phone is having issues charging, so I won't be posting much, but I'm still taking pictures. I'll post later. Having a great time even though it's rainy.
EDIT: Paul, no problem. I'll grab it.
Our RV is camped across the track from the black flag station before T10, and I'm driving a black/red Kia Soul EV. Give me a shout if you see me!
Still sitting on my rear in North Augusta just got off work and its raining. Is it raining at the track? I love road ATL but not looking to tent camp in the red clay tonight. Depending on the weather I will try to leave out in the early morning.
The rain stopped around 3pm, it's sunny and beautiful now. The ground should be fine for camping, especially if you put down a tarp or sheet of poly.
I am here talking to friedgreencorradado. I have purchased a giant funnel cake that is too big for me. Please wander up to me and steal pieces.
We could only stay for Friday due to prior commitments. I missed connecting withe everyone due to time constraints, my complete lack of understanding about RA's geography, and my phone flaking out. We're already planning a full weekend next year though. Have fun without us!
Thank you for putting on such an awesome event!
Getting to see a Shadow DN4 and a McLaren M8F was earthshaking. They have to be felt to be believed. Being awakened Sunday morning by a 3-rotor firing up was great too.
I want a V8 Exocet now...
Instead of crashing this thread with my ramblings I put them all in another thread -- Forum link
We camped at 2/3 as usual and several GRMers joined us, Stand, Reece and his college group, many others wandered by through the weekend including Matt of Westside Mirage fame, Les and much more.
We drank a lot, patrolled the track, met lots of old and new friends.
Ask me how I came to face plant 30 feet from camp after we forced wheelies on the golf kart all the way around the track.
In reply to aussiesmg:
So... how did you caome to face plant 30 feet from camp after you forced wheelies on the golf kart all the way around the track?
