Not bad?
I can hear the boardroom talk now: "The silhouette looks to much like a 90's Tercel. Let's add some comically misshapen lights and body panels!"
If this car and the new Mirai represent the 'future' of Toyota design language, then the company needs to fire their styling department.
Its berkeleying hideous. I actually liked the look of the 3rd Gen.
It's going to be even better at what it does though, so that's good.

Tacoma? Avalon?
I'll give you the Tacoma and 4Runner although they are a bit cartoony....and I guess the Avalon is ok. Can't say I like the styling of the Camry, or the Yaris.
Most of the Lexus line wouldn't be that bad if they'd abandon that hideous gaping-mouth front end treatment. It's like they saw the Acura "beak" of a few years ago and thought.......hmmm...what we need to do is make our cars more ugly....that will sell!
I think the Scion FR-S is proof they can make an attractive car. Scion must not be sharing their designers.
Granted if this board proves one thing, it's that one man's beauty is another man's beast. I"m always amazed at the massive differences in opinion when it comes to styling.
I'm sure someone out there loves these designs. Blind people can like cars too!
There used to be a saying: "Volvos are the car for people who hate cars". To a large extent, Prius has taken over that role. Most Prius owners care that they get awesome gas mileage and it rarely breaks. I agree with the overall sentiment reagrding styling, but don't think that it matters much.
As for the current front end treatment made popular(!?) by Lexus. Where I live, Lexus may well be the most popular high-end car. So our opinion doesn't seem to matter too much

I do care about that, but I also actually like how my 2g car looks. I think the 3rd gen is pretty sharp in some colors/wheels/etc. I think this new car is horribly overwrought.
The main thing is that Prius' are supposed to be about being nice. As in Nice to the environment, nice to drive, nice and boring... This thing looks pissed off. It's the Darth Vader edition Prius!
It looks like the design sketch got crumpled up and thrown out, and the clay modeling guy unwadded it and decided to make it as a joke. Then the joke went too far and they ACTUALLY made it!
