I know I've seen references to this, but I'll be danged if I can find them now. Any details?
(I'm looking at trucks (again) and thought this could sway me towards -or away from- different buying options.)
Thanks and sorry if this is a repeat/redundant topic.
It will be a topic at the Town Hall Meeting.
Continue to talk about this on the board to see how much interest there is from people who typically don't attend the event.

Well, that would be me...though I'll be there tomorrow evening, so I'll be around for the Town Hall meeting too.
I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement. I was very excited about the vans this year before it became clear that life wasn't going to cooperate with me going even if I did build one. Trucks are even more exciting to me because having an extra truck around is more useful than an extra van and I can nearly justify it to my wife.
Truck class would be entertaining. Although I've got an idea that might lead to some slightly more creative and entertaining stuff being put together. A solid-axle class. It can be a car, truck or whatever, but it's not allowed to have any form of independent suspension at either end, just a solid axle in both the front and rear
The chance of a truck class has me trying to talk my wife into letting me attend. Likely wont build anything but i have a weird lust for 80's mini trucks and think it would be fun too see a bunch of budget built versions.
I really want another ranger with a 2.3, but the kids dont fit.
I'd love to see some trucks built at challenge price! I want to see some cheap 4-link rear suspension builds!
My big block 5 speed 90 chevy 1500 shortbed qualifies, but not sure i feel like going from a relatively competitive car to a pickup. And im not building an s10 again.
Sitting at welcome center eating dinner, almost ready to get backon road to Gainesville
I think this class sounds awesome.
That's what I'm doing is building a truck for '17.

A truck class could push me towards an entry. I have a beater c10 shortbed 2wd that would make a great start to a challenge truck.
That would be very tempting. Not that I need another half completed project around here.

Trucks are good. So are wagons! I vote for either of those.
How about the Land Barge class?
Land Barge, Land Yacht... Set minimum length and weight limits. Thinking late 70s Olds, Buick, Caddy, Lincoln... Hmmm, Toronado maybe....
I bought a truck with this in mind but I'm like 98% sure I won't be there next year.

This is an intriguing idea. Set minimum wheelbase, track and weight limits, but but limit it to cars that originally had those dimensions. What I'm saying is I really want to see a CRX with a swamp truck suspension stuck up under it.
I vote for trucks in 2017. Really bummed out that I couldn't make it the last 2 years. Stupid job....
My 79 GMC Sierra from the Challenge a couple of years ago - I am working on again. I would be in budget for 2017. More operable of course, less broken
So, I'm going to throw this out... "What is a truck"? What requirements would define an eligible "truck" class entry?
If I added a truck bed to a miata would it be legal? Must it be RWD? Live axle? Minimum length? Body over frame? If I start with a conventional truck and then remove all of the defining characteristics of it being a truck is it still a "truck"? SUVs are sometimes called trucks, are they in fact "trucks"?

Hmm, factory truck vs converted "truck". I lust for an old escort hatch with the hatch removed.
A truck class would be interesting to me since I'm pondering buying one anyway to haul the bikes, and you can get a lot of truck for not a lot of money.
Bonus points if the challenge truck tows a second challenge entry there.
