And there are many things that I want.
5-hour round trip for me, but I've already picked out about 10 cars and trucks from that auction...

Here is a Caddy for you Stan:

In the past two weeks this Auction has been local discussion at least 5 times with completely different sets of folks. Should be interesting.
My offers still stand if anyone wants some "front yard camping" space.
I am 10 minutes from the auction site and then another 10 minutes beyond that to the Dragway where they will also hold activities.
so i signed up on the proxibid site. $50 to get your bidder paddle/number. non refundable.
i have the high bid currently on 11 cars, most importantly the 1959 panhard. i'm not sure if i will be able to attend, and would probably be overwhelmed with the crowd because i hate people, so i'm going to do all my bidding beforehand and online so i don't get caught up in a bidding war in the heat of the moment.

I have a bidder card. If you want to throw a bid on it let me know the max, keep in mind 13% buyers premium.

Cool! Thanks Patrick! (and yes I saw the 13%...)
Is the bidder card tied to you somehow or just a number?
Thinking I probably won't be making it up there, but some of those Cushman scooters are calling my name. Not that I have time or space to mess with them anyway.
Well, the number is tied to my name. But if you promise not to stick me with a wv caddy i'll throw a bid in for you
Yeah, but the 59 Panhard is something i need.
The max bids on the other 8 i'm high bidder on right now don't add up to my max on the panhard. I kinda hope i win the 58 rambler wagon

wow, some really cool stuff going there. I'm sad I will not be able to make it!

Promise. Of course like I said, there are about 10 cars/trucks that I'm watching. So glad I'm not closer..(kinda). PM you ok?
Ok day 1 is concluded. What did you buy?
I bought 1959 panhard sedan for the panhard specific parts to restore the Devin.
Also Colin, my 6 year old son, got excited and talked me into buying his first car for him. He now owns a 1941 Studebaker. He has 10 years to get it done. My dad gave me my 1954 Belair when i was 12 in much worse shape than the Studebaker we just bought, so he has a huge head start on me.
I thought about buying the nsu but didn't. The other ones I had my eye on went for too much. My friend bought a 74 Mercedes 280c.
I'm going to watch online tomorrow, I have my eye on the Kadett wagon.

If anyone is interested, and we act now, I may be able to get a cabin at Camp Perry for this. It is about 45 min from Norwalk and the cabins are basically on the lake. I can get one cheap but the NRA holds their National Shooting matches at Camp Perry so there may not be any open but if there is interest I will check.
Do you mean those German pow quarters from WWII? Having been in them a week at time for the matches I suggest the near by camp grounds.
Patrick,I bet Colin will be the only one in 2nd (1st?) grade with his first car. :)
Evan, that Kadett still has no bids, so might be quite the bargain. Plans for it when you get it? 13b maybe?
I'm hoping it goes fairly cheap. No plans for it but I have been looking for one for a while.
In reply to EvanB:
Are you going to be on site for tomorrow?
I might but more importantly, I have some Miata rear subframes and driveshafts I got from you years ago. I have moved address with them a few times but nothing else and all signs point to I never will do anything with them. If you would like them back I can bring them in my Montero since the Sunday event is about 5 miles from my house.
In reply to John Welsh :
I will probably not be up there tomorrow, the 4 hour round trip today was enough for me this weekend.
I'm just going to Summit Racing tomorrow morning.
I will not open the auction site.

Ah hell I can do just as much damage on Summit's clearance racks
In reply to EvanB:
No problem. If you ever need a Miata driveshaft or rear axle, it is safe to say these will be in the same place.
You can just as easily pick up the Miata pieces when you pick up the Kadett.
Speaking of, I bet a rear subframe would just about perfect for under a Kadett.
Well I bought the Kadett, thankfully got outbid on a Saab.
