MZR 2.0l?  Those and their sister duratec are good engines.

The FS is from the 2nd generation Probe/MX6/626 and the 9th generation Protege.  They're pretty much an econo-lump.

The FS predates the MZR, it was used in the Protege and 626 in the late 90's and early 00's.

It is a decent little engine but they didn't have a great aftermarket when they were new and common, I doubt there is much out there now.

The Mazdaspeed Protege has a turbocharged FS-DE that had...problems. In Japan they got the FS-ZE which was a zingy 170HP naturally aspirated version.

The FS, by recollection, is a weirdball motor that is a DOHC F engine, but built on the same bore center as a BP.

Not sure why Mazda didn't just make a 2l B engine.
