25 for the Miata, and 7 for the Neon. I'll give myself half points for the Lancer - it wasn't an Evo - for another 4.5. Puts me at 36.5.

I must say though, after thinking about it... you get more points for having a Dodge Omni than a Dodge Viper?!? Or a Boxster? Or an S2k? Huh?

I'd like to point out that I studied pure math in university, not applied Traditionalists would insist that 75 + 19 + 12.5 = 106.5, not 38.5. I also forgot about my Civic, which adds another 23 for a traditional total of 129.5.

Welcome to GRM, home of the non-obvious car. Heck, the Boxster and S2k were both just Miata wannabes anyhow

Owned 2 "3 Series" (E30, E36), A Rabbit, not quite a GTI, but the same A1 style Rabbit, a Infiniti G20, which is kinda like a SE-R, same SR20, worked on a Porsche 996 GT3R team, worked for Lotus, still looking for a Miata and a Volvo 240...

I've owned 2 Miata + 4 3-Series + 1 Civic = 169 points.

I've got plenty more points on my wish list though: 911, Elise, RX-7, S2000, Evo, FFR Roadster

Keith's proposal for how they're counted works for me...

I've owned 5X 3-series, 120pts.

Only one Integra, 22pts.

One mustang, 21pts.

One camaro, 18pts.

One Z-car, (it was an automatic '81 2+2) NO POINTS

One GTI, 14pts.

One RX-7, 13pts.

THREE RWD corollas, 9 pts.

And just one b13 SE-R, 2pts.

for a grand total of 219

Was that the best car ever? How could it not be?

Well, I guess it could have had a LS1, in a Datsun roadster body, but now I am just being picky. Can I have it?

And my score is pathetic.

2 Camaros = 36 1 Civic (OK, so it was technically my wife's = 22 1 Volvo 945, but since it's a wagon, and not a 7 series, but a 9 series, and turbo, I give myself 5 points instead of 1 = 5

=63

I have to buy some Miatae

Since we get to score ourselves and make up the rules as we go here's mine:

25 Miata

12 BMW 2002 (taking half of the 3 series score)

11.5 1980 Honda Accord- half civic score

19 Had a 1987 Camaro with 305, 5 speed and radio delete, no AC

36 Have a real Mini so I am doubling the MINI score

7.5 Had a VW cabriolet - not a GTI, but it was still the A1 chassis - half GT score

111 for me.

We get double for classic Minis? Excellent. That puts me up to 165.5. Since the M5 is obviously 5/3rds of an M3, that's 40 points. Woo, 205.5!

Hmm, the MGB has the front suspension of a Miata with the drivetrain of a Camaro and the fender flares from a Mk1 Rabbit - what's it worth?

My tally is heavily front loaded, as I've owned 6 of the models on the list, and 4 out of the top 5, including multiples.

So, using Keith's formula:

Miatas, 2 x 25 = 50

Civics, 4 x 24 = 96

Mustangs, 2 x 22 = 44 (any bonus points for two 65's?)

Porsche 911, 21

WRX, 13

AE86, 4

Total of 228 points

...and I will own an Elise!

Alright, you twisted my arm... 2 Mustangs (65/66???) (82 GT) for 44 pts. 1 85 MR2 for 10 pts 1 86 corolla (sr5-boo!) for 4 pts Of these 4 cars, only 2 ever ran, and a whopping zero were ever registered or driven in anger-maybe I drove the MR2 in a miffed manner. Still, 56 points-I RULE!

Miata, Mini. Not too bad, though at my age I should have had more by now. I blame the Alfas. I've wanted one of each of most of the cars on the list, though!

Hmmm Spec Miata gets extra points??? I like that idea. I may have forgotten an RX or two also but you get the idea of where I have spent my money over the years. Mazda rules imo. Ironically I owned the 911 before I got into racing and most of the cars since have had a relationship to my interest or plans in racing.

I only have owned two. My corolla was too new to be in the line, and somehow the ms3 didn't make the list, even though I believe it should have, as it basically (IMO) reinvented the pocket hatch wars. There was Evo and STi before it and even the SRT- but it got serious when the ms3 arrived. My MINI does however, qualify, and I was a DSM owner til the car pulled a Chernobyl on me. And the wife won't let me have any more cars until we own a home with a spot for me to hide all my acqusitions. I fear the day I have a full garage.

Without doing halfsies for "close" models. I owned a Lancer for a while, I've never driven an Evo but I'll be disappointed if the Evo is only twice the car the Lancer is.
