Four door blazers have the sway bar on the rear face of the axle, two doors are on the front face. Choose wisely.

has 3.42 rear.

unless the 4.3 asplode no engine swapping here... but i have that lsx sitting here doing nothing.

the tv cable needs adjusted, it shifts too soon. but it drives nice and it saved my butt yesterday when my hitch on the big truck broke, took the little truck to get materials for the job while my dad cut off the hitch built into the flatbed and put on my class 5 frame mount one.

John Deere Hydraulic fluid for wet clutches for even harder shifts.

Something just occurred to me. I had a 96 with the Fo point three and a quick, simple, FREE mod is as like this. This is for the Vortec btw, but, pop off the intake tract from the TB, open it and see if the plate is on it. If it is, take TB off, grind the offending blockage off, but DO NOT TAKE WHOLE PLATE OFF!! This plate has a hole in it for the idle! You'll see what I'm talking about when you look at it. I did it and it made a difference in WOT operation above 2500 RPM and gave it a throaty sound that wasn't annoying to me.

So our 98, 4.3 5 spd S10 should hav the 8.5" diff?

Pretty sure it's a 7.5"

Get an exhaust on that thing. It should make a big difference.

Crawl under, and look at the crossover pipe. You'll want to replace it.

crawled under today. exhaust is spotless except the shop that did it apparently boogered up the joint between original converter and flowmaster cat-back because it has a pop can foil taped around the pipe. i'll be cutting off the cat and replacing it with a high flow one and in doing so fixing that leak - only because i can get $50+ for the cat and already have the high flow one. that will pay for some other stuff like tune up parts and a bravada front bumper cover

actually the whole darn truck is spotless underneath. there is still factory paint on the leaf springs and shackles. i found a temp tag in the bed from florida - which explains why it is in the same condition rust wise as an ohio truck that is still on the dealer lot.

Hmmmm, veeeedy interesting. Wish the guy was a little more prompt in his typing, and not so rushed, some of that is a little hard to read.

I had thought of a 3.8 buick supercharged swap, but never a 3.4 Although it makes sense for him, upgrading from a 2.8. I'd like to see it built like he wanted, cam, 3500 heads, etc etc. Killer thread!

I went with the Explorer 8.8 with 4.10 and LSD with mixed results, apparently 500hp is enough to break an 8.8. Of course I also built my own 4 link. The explorer is about 4 inches wider than the S10 10 bolt.

G body front springs are 787lb and a direct swap, but an inch taller, the S10 front springs are 420lb.

I used the ZQ8 sway bar and shocks on front.

I also boxed the frame and built or modified the crossembers.

going friday to find stuff. i know there was a bravada with bilstiens on the back last time i was there. i hope but doubt to find a zq8 truck. i was going to wait a while to go look for stuff but while practicing my caber tossing i threw a log through my back window today so i need to get that sealed up. the inventory list also shows a 94 bravada, which has the coolest factory front bumper that isnt syclone/typhoon.

took a couple pics, just need to send them from my phone and upload.

while i am probably almost strong enough to try caber tossing, i was just moving some firewood up to the house. one piece bounced up and took out the back window.

looked on CL, a guy had just posted one for $10, so i just got home from picking it up. we stopped at summit racing and picked up some drop front springs for fullsize chevy truck to resell, and picked up set of 4 bilstiens for $12 for a durango that look like they will fit the 4x4 astro perfectly. i love clearance shopping at summit.

also pleasantly surprised that the wheels are 15's. i have another set of those in 14" and did not know that style came in 15. still doubt i can go big front brakes without going to 16's

yes, i do have the virgin mary watching over my house.

pull a part was a pleasant surprise today. i looked at the inventory for the west side cleveland one as my buddy volunteered to drive if i helped him pull aerostar parts. no 1994 bravadas.

walking the gm section looking for a door handle for my dad's 99 s10, i look over and the holy grail is staring me in the face - a 94 bravada front bumper. someone put it on a blazer. awesome, 5 minutes and $15 later i get my bumper. need to go back to the akron location(the 94 they have has a torn up bumper) and pick up the filler panels for between wheel opening and bumper as they complete it, those should be about 89 cents as mouldings are 89 cents per foot and each one is about 6 inches long.

also last week in akron i picked up the rear sway bar off a 4 door blazer with all hardware for $14 and a floor shift console for the same price.

as the guy that wrote the drivabeater build thread, im grateful to see it being referenced in other places.

2wd blazers have the same sway bars as ZQ8 trucks. look for 97-200 2wd 4 doors.

Springs: 1.5 coils cut=3 inch drop. dont. go with the 1 inch coils from belltech, hotchkis, or true ZQ8 truck. 2 inch spindles are cheap. will get you where you want to be.

Tall ball joints, lower, are availible for 50Ea. frpm power pereformance. use the UB machine upper arms and c10 ball joints for the top.

ZQ8 steering box. late 80's cherokee steering shaft

drop the vack, but not with blocks. use true drop springs, or de-arch the heavy duty springs in the z85 package.

remove all the weight you can from the front. really helps these little trucks.

or buy mine, thats already got all that and the 3.4, etc.

i read about the 2wd blazer sharing the zq8 front bar, but up here in northeast ohio pretty much every blazer i come across is a 4x4.
