This one has me stumped. Bad diesel? Fuel filters? I have both and can change them if need be.
I'm somewhere near the North Carolina border, and the mountains brought this on. Car "stumbles" on the inclines, full power going down hills, though. Starts and stops just fine. Temp normal. Was fine this AM.
Thoughts?
In reply to Jordan Rimpela :

Fuel filters. I kept fresh fuel filters in the trunk of my old 300sd and every time it started to lose power I changed them.
Change the little fuel filter, it'll be perfect again. Change the big cannister one once you get home.

Check the hose running from the intake manifold to the top of the fuel injection pump. It allows turbo boost to affect fuel metering.
I agree with ChasH. I've had similar feelings on track with a leaking ALDA line. We've also had similar issues with clogged fuel filters. We had some fuel algae issues and had to change the primary filter every 2 hours to get through the race.
How can you tell?
Sorry... I'll let myself out...
In my memory of superdiesels, did you step on the accelerator pedal long enough? I've never encountered a car with more turbo lag than a 300SD.
Seriously, though, fuel filter seems like a very good first step.
Really? Boost comes on at 2200 in both our cars... although it nets you like 5 extra HP /s

Same as with my SL1. If you only have 90hp, those 12 that went missing are really obvious.
Sounds like a fuel issue to me. If changing both of the under hood fuel filters doesn't help, you may need to clean or replace the in tank strainer. You'll need a proper socket for that though. It's 46mm or 1-13/16, but it needs to be cut down flush, with no bevel on the socket end to be able to grab on to the strainer. The socket will most likely be a 3/4 drive, but you'll need a 3/4 to 1/2 adapter to be able to get your 1/2 extension around the axle shaft.
If you look up Mercedes fuel tank strainer socket, you can buy them already made this way.
I changed the little inline filter and all was well after that.
I got diesel shortly after that, and managed a solid 24mpg averaging about 75 through the hilly area of 77 all the way into WV.
