Hello all!

I just finished installing ball joints and struts on my 1985 Z28 and I am having a little issue with it. Even after an alignment the steering will not center itself when I release the wheel. Before the work I did not have this issue. Any thoughts? I have loosened the steering box in hope that this would cure it. It helped a little, but I can not back the adjuster out any more. The steering will center except for the last 1/4 turn per side.

Thanks for the input

Sean

Is the idler arm bound up?

You got a defective joint, strut, or strut bearing/mount that is binding?

I did not touch the steering linkage (idler arm) so Im guessing its not that. I fear Kenny is right.... going to go with a bad ball joint. I had a lot of parts to throw at it for inspection and little cash, so I bought the low price parts.

jack it up, unhook the tie rods, and see if each wheel turns freely..

where is the caster set? look at the top of the strut mounts.. mine are pushed all the way towards the rear of the slotted holes and it looks like it came from the factory that way.
