I'm trying to figure out a cheap cold air intake for my 67 Coronet. It has a 4 barrel with a standard (5 1/8") top on it. The only thing I can find is the intake hat for certain EFI Magnum engines, but I can't find much on eBay or otherwise (I don't know what to search for on car-part).
Is there an easy way to make something short of buying those expensive ($99-150) adapters from Spectre or eBay?
what about a simple round oem aircleaner with the tube hooked to a tube heading to someplace cold air lurks?
Spectre's chromed ABS modular tubing is great for making your own CAI, I assume you're looking for something to replace the "frying pan" piece that sits right on top of the carb?
If so, you should consider getting one fabricated, you should be able to get it done for well under $50 and you'll get exactly what you want. It's surprisingly hard to find an aftermarket replacement from some quick searching.
Edit: BTW, when you use a CAI with a carb you basically have to tune for a specific air temperature, and you lose more power as the ambient temperature deviates further from the temperature you tuned for...just so you know.

Get one of the enclosed air cleaners like the car came with. Two sheet metal drier ducts the size of hose you want to run to the front of the car. Squeeze one end down into an oval the height of the air cleaner housing. Cut a corresponding hole in the housing and rivet the duct in place. Connect the hose to it and run it to the front of the car. I had fount some sheet metal boxes that I attached under the bumper when I did it in my friend's Regal.

Find an 85 mustang one:
Cut it off at the flapper valves for the warm air induction and put the hoses in a spot you can get clean air. Paint the whole thing the color of your choice if you don't want the 5.0 on the lid.
Looks like the Spectre unit you were looking at is indeed the cheapest one out there...the rest are at crackpipe prices, hundreds of dollars for what amounts to a specially shaped tube
BTW another fab option is to 3D print one, use ABS or Ultem.
The 5.0 Mustang idea is good. If you want to be a bit more Mopar-ey, search out
a twin snorkel unit from the early to mid 70's, and adapt some dryer duct to it.
This one is the proper vintage, but its likely a bit harder to find.
I don't have any fab options (not tooled, no friends who are). That TBI spacer is promising but I still need some kind of 90 degree transition piece.

The car was originally a 2 barrel so I can't use the original one.
This is how Ford did it on a 4 headlight car. You can get high/low headlights to go in the low beam holes.
At the pick and pulls around here, the air cleaners are $5. I remembered the Mustang one off the top of my head because I owned one but there are plenty of different options as well.

Funny story about the one you have pictured. I was at a swap meet and a guy had one of those sitting in the corner under a bunch of stuff with a $15 price tag on it. I snatched it up and resold it for $150 that same weekend for another Fairlane guy. He was like, I've been looking for ever for one. I just chuckled thinking he probably walked by that booth earlier in the day.
I'm in western Washington, the pick n pulls are pretty much picked over for anything built before the mid 80s. I never experience any of these magic dirt cheap old car parts people like to talk about :(
As for the Magnum EFI hats, I believe the 97-04 Dakotas had them, probably a few of the full size in that era as well. The 92-96 Dakotas used a traditional air cleaner with one snorkel and duct to the core support. It fits a standard 4 bbl carb (5 1/8") as well. Air filter is a bit small but it could work, just add a second snorkel and duct. Just some thoughts of mine.
