Alright. Last time said car was discussed, I found all of this goodness.

At first I was like

But I started to look at it as an opportunity, I have been wanting to weld more and improve in this black art. Besides, I have a MIG welder and a tank full of C25 so why not?

This past weekend I actually had a break from homework for once and decided to compression test it, cylinders 1 2 3 4 and 6 were all right around 165-170psi, cylinder 5 however was right at 130-135ish. Bentley manual states 140-180 is healthy... Bummer.

The person who actually towed it home for me called me up and was wondering if I planned on keeping it. He said that if I was wanting to get rid of it, he would pay me what I have in it thus far... So that got me thinking...

What would you do esteemed board?

Is this compression so bad off Its shot?

PROS:

$480 in my pocket.

My weekend isnt cluttered with ZOMFG I NEED TO GET THIS DONE.

Dont have to fix the rust.

Weekend can be filled with homework... not really a pro or a con as we all know I probably wont do it until sunday afternoons/night.

CONS:

Dont get to fix the rust.

Search for a more expensive DD. Again.

No more E30... I have always liked/wanted one...

What do you think?

There are lots of E30's around.

But buy my Volvo instead.

That's some pretty serious rust for a car with a sketchy motor.

If I were in your shoes, $480 would be sounding pretty good to me right about now.

I've had compression numbers like that on an m20 due to being driven gently and oil changed too infrequently. combustion chamber was extra crusty. soaked with seafoam, ran mobil1, numbers came back to within 5% of each other.
