Not necessarily mad it's not here but curious to how Mazda's new 6 would have been received here. Would it have competed well with Hyundai Ioniqs that I'm seeing everywhere?
It's exclusive to the Chinese market, RWD, and electric or PHEV. The EV version is supposed to have a 370 mile range which is way better than the 130 miles of the MX-30.

I think it would sell well. I like the look of that.
Im shocked but I'm actually not that sad about the new 6 (6e) because I think it looks too much like a Nissan. Yuck. That picture is the most flattering I've seen of it. It's a huge downgrade from what Mazda has been designing in my opinion.
It's also a joint venture with a Chinese manufacturer and I'm skeptical, though I was reading the other thread about Chinese EVs and wondered if my bid is warranted.
I do really like the idea of a new 6, this just ain't it.

Renault 5 ev. I think this is a great kind of car for many people. Well reviewed, fun, good looks, reasonable price, 3300lbs, 250 mile range.
This may not be a popular opinion, but I am a bit concerned that we're shooting ourselves in the foot by blocking Chinese evs. They come from the biggest, most competitive ev market. They appear to be significantly ahead, or about to be, on fast charging and autonomous driving. Competition breads better results for all. Remember domestic cars from 30 years ago? I wonder if a tariff that aims to only even the playing field between domestic/Chinese subsidies would be a smarter way to go.

It's a shame we didn't get those, especially the i30N, because we got a little taste with the Elantra GT N Line.

Ford is killing it off in November, but you can still get the Focus ST overseas.
And Europe gets all the cool vans.

I really like the looks of the latest Focus. I get so sad thinking about all the hatches we don't get here that are for sale in Europe. And the vans too. Since then was a kid it's always been this way, so many of the cars I want aren't for sale here.
Oh yeah, RE: Vans the Transit Connect in Europe is available with a Manual, or as a Hybrid. Here we just get the auto that is no bueno.
A new Focus ST starts at near 50k US and goes up from there.
I think a lot of the reason they abandoned small cars in the US is that the margins aren't there. Prices for new cars in the UK and Europe are a lot higher than here. IIRC my $47k Volvo retailed for about $120k in the home country.
Fold down the rear seats and you get
* A LOWER CENTER OF GRAVITY *
on top of the WRX performance you also know and love.
*fixed it for ya.

You would think with the Dodge and Mercedes Sprinters that people are building into RV style, that there would be a market for these VW. That are basically already built and ready to go. I did see a VW ID. Buzz this weekend. Seems like the ID.Buzz is similar interior dimensions to my Taos and Mazda5.
the mighty car mods channel did a full wrx sti drivetrain and trim swap to a levorg and is very cool.
I think a basic Toyota pickup truck like is sold in the 3rd world , $15,000 or so
If Top Gear could not kill them thats good enough for most of us :)
yeah I know you will probably need to add the 25% Chicken tax , and probably more
In reply to californiamilleghia :
Chicken tax, IIRC, is for vehicles that do not have back seats.
Subaru got around this by bolting seats into the bed of the BRAT.
There are ways...

and Toyota / Nissan shipped the trucks with no beds and put the beds on at or near the port,
not sure if the beds were made in the USA or not

25% "Why are we still dealing with the ghost of Jimmy Carter" Chicken Tax would still only make a $15k truck $18,750 which I think would be great for an entry level vehicle. Would put payments around $350 a month on a typical 60 month loan. I think they would sell reasonably well.

Dang, I must have missed that. I know what I'm watching on my lunch break.
Volkswagen just announced a new pickup truck, the Amarok ... for South America.
