Can you take aero elements off a GT3-spec racer and use them on your own race car?

Yes, and Johnny Cichowski from Nine Lives Racing shows you how with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Korthoff Preston Motorsports.

Presented by CRC Industries.

I abide by a single rule with regards to aero. If it looks faster, it IS faster. Data just ignores the emotional improvement in my lap times.

The normal basics still apply even to a relative brick. Limit aero intrusion. Low as possible. Limit aero "spoilers" or pieces that just hang out in the air for no real reason.

Also, never forget that a GRM sticker adds 10lbs of downforce and +5% hp...

I'm going to start referring to ineffective aero parts as "emotional aero". It sounds like a term the Japanese would use.

I know the class doesn't allow it, but you need to give me an exception; this is my emotional support aero.

I took the spaceship tailfin off my racecar when rethemeing and gained time. Didn't look right without the tailfin so it's back on the car.

The only time I gained by aero they changed the rules. It was in a very stock production class and they had neglected to mandate how low your front air dam could be.  I got some rubberized canvas conveyor belt material and attached it to the front of the car. At a stand still it was about half an inch off the ground but under hard braking it would actually flex and rub on the ground.  For some reason they changed the rule and specified a minimum clearance, but until they did, I picked up around 500 rpm on top speed with that trick at the longest straight in the series (SIR).  They never thanked me for keeping their track cleaner either.
