50 Chevy Deisel on CL-do want!

Not mine, but it would be if only I had more space! The Ad " 1950 Chevy Fleetline 2 door

• Perkins 4.154 4cyl turbo diesel was installed in the late 70's (brand new). It still runs great today, approx 150k miles since conversion was done.
• Approx average 33mpg. Has glow plugs, exterior plug, aftermarket gauges for temp, etc.
• Good, clean KY title in my name. Taxes, tags insurance all current. Car is driven on occasion. Could be daily driver with some minor repairs.
• Trans is out of a 55-62 with overdrive. overdrive works, but i have never used. top speed is most likely 65mph.
• brakes are drum. '51 front-'55 rear. They work, but pedal sticks on occasion. E-brake works, but needs to be tightened.
• rear axle is a '55
• All this work is documented, blueprinted, etc. a big file box showing all the research, manuals, etc is included.
• 24 Zerk fittings on the front end. done approx every 2k miles
• 3 speed on the column with overdrive
• tires are decent. thin white walls.
• interior is complete, but needs restoration.
• hitch with trailer wiring for small trailer.Used for trip to California (a long time ago).
• heater works, lights, signals, wipers, brake lights all work. Horn does not.
• exterior is complete. rust holes on most lower parts. floor has some holes, but covered with fiberglass. Top surface is surface rust, no holes.
• pass door has a dent, wont open from outside now.

Very cool car that runs and drives. It just needs some TLC. Make it a Rat Rod - Hot Rod. Make it your Daily driver that gets better gas mileage than a lot of new cars. Cheap taxes and insurance too! $2500 Might trade for a Jeep CJ7 or 8. Willing to pay more for the right Jeep ."

Add 2000 lbs to your civic and see how your mileage turns out. Then consider that the Perkins makes more torque than the lug nuts on your civic take to install, and the argument dissolves.

Then consider that the Perkins will run all day on bio, veggie, kerosene, jet fuel, or paint thinner, and its kinda a no-brainer. :)

Why.. .Dynamically my civic wins on all accounts. So what if it makes more torque or is heavier? How does this make it a better "car" than my civic?

What about the "wow" dynamic Nobody walks up to a civic and says, "wow, a stock 1.6L non-vtec from the factory! awesome!"

The Civic and the Fleetline are perfect for each other. In preparation for a car show where the Fleetline would be on display or other event, you could just throw the Civic into the trunk of the Fleetline and use it for burger/beer runs.

That would be a bout 80 lb-ft. I think the way the saying goes is something more like this - "It takes more torque to tighten the lug nuts on my car than your Civic's engine makes."

Love it. That car has actually been for sale locally for a while. The price has dropped. I'd love to have it, but I just don't have the disposable money atm.

Gorgeous. I'd like a fleet of those.

Would fit in in Cuba. They've got plenty of those old 50s American cars driving around in good shape, lots of them with diesels.
