Casually googling last night it appears that lots of 2 year old electric cars are being unloaded for cheap. I can't make myself like the leaf enough to go that way, but there were also a lot of fiat 500e's on the left coast. Not crazy about the 500 in general, but I see a lot of the gas models around here so maybe they aren't terrible. Anyone have any experience with the electric version?
A bunch of people I know leased them when a crazy $83/month 3-year lease deal came up. I guess they don't completely suck, but the even at that price I had no desire to have one. Lots of torque, seems fast up to 35 mph or so, disappointing above that. Vestigal back seat, eats front tires, bizarre staggered wheel sizing even though the tires are the same. Lots of understeer. You'll really need a level 2 charger for it.
You don't want a Leaf, but you'd consider an EV Fiat? You been standing near an exhaust pipe too long??

I just can't get over the dr Seuss- Iness of the leaf shape. Yes it is better at getting around in almost every way...... but ....... no. I can't do it.

Oh, I thought this was going to be a thread about Mercedes.
The Leaf somehow isn't as ugly IRL as it is in pics...it's a very un-photogenic car. IRL it just looks plain.
2 of my friends have them. In my opinion they look just as silly in real life, but personal taste is just that. They will scoot though for an appliance......
The idea of buying an electric car from a company known for shoddy electrics always seemed nightmare fuel to me.
I guess we're not talking about the same thing. In my world, this is a 500E
4K at auction for a Fiat 500e with 30K miles is what I am hearing price wise.
Don't buy them and bring them outside of their compliance markets. Back when I bought the Leaf a guy locally bought a 500e and shipped it back to Michigan, told me he got a great deal. He found out soon enough that no dealer or mechanic around here would touch it even for rudimentary warranty work.
It could be a great deal up until it breaks and the closest mechanic who will repair it is 2000 miles away.
Oh and I drive a Leaf obviously. And I agree it's ugly, and in an unfortunate rather than endearing way.
Quoted because this is a bucket list car of mine and this thread was a bit of a let down.

That's a "500E", we're talking about a "500e". The capitalization makes a difference. :)

yes, I too was hoping for mercs...
This thread is like telling your dog that you're going to the park, but you're actually going to the vet.
There are not too many of them but an e-golf is much more widely distributed and pretty solid cars (so far).
