1963 Described as "rough" -repeatedly. Has wire wheels. Sitting in a field.
Worth it?

Ummm, let's see. Given that info, I would pass based on the price alone... But it's a very useless opinion without pics!
Get some pictures or go take a look. Then offer to haul it off for $50. TR4 fenders are expensive if these are rusted. If it has an OD transmission and the engine is not stuck it still may not be worth $600. But the cylinder heads are getting hard to find. Seems TR3 heads tend to crack.
Will certainly go see it before purchase. It's about 5 hours away though which makes things a bit tougher. I was imagining a worse case and if EVERYTHING was rusted, the engine locked and bad interior I'm not sure if it has any value at all (other than -sadly- scrap).
Plus it's "in a field" . You can only imagine the fun there...
I wouldn't bother with pictures for anything more than deciding if it is worth going to see. If it looks too bad in the pictures, it probably isn't worth the drive. If the pictures don't convince you that it is a lost cause, then look at it in person. Without pictures at all, you're stuck with the inspection skills and honesty of the owner for your decision to make the drive. A seller describing a car as "rough" and "sitting in a field" makes me believe it's probably beyond "reasonably salvageable" as a car, but who knows? Ya might get lucky. They can be awfully cool.
