Either one of those is an amazing amount of car for $15k in today’s world. I’ll have to say the white Coupe Deville would be my preference.
Sidebar / stupid question time: Any issues running these engines on unleaded gas or had they already started putting hardened valve seats in from the factory by that time?
No response from either seller. Lets see what happens

Received email. Much appreciated

Did the 500 ever come in anything besides the Eldo? If it did, I'm thinking it wasn't until way up there in ´75 or ˋ76. Every '68 to '74 I've ever seen was 472 if rear drive.
Edit: and Curtis (I think it was) said in another thread that they just used a standard 12-bolt. I saw a ´68 on BAT and it had the strangest looking rear I've ever seen. No bolts at all on the backside. Kind of looked similar to a 9" Ford. Is this really just a 12 bolt?
herés the auction. I won't try to post the picture the way the website has been as of late:

Yes but not till 1975 when the 500 replaced the 472 but those were the smog versions ofcourse.

Not in Curtis or Stampie's league here - but $15k seems like a pretty considerable budget for these cars, especially the sedans. You should be able to get a very, very good example for that price. The '65-'66 cars I like don't hit that sort of money unless the roof comes off.

I would be happy with a 65-66 coupe
I am not married to a 70
be happy to give a finders fee if someone finds me a clean no rust driver example

Still nada from either seller FYI
Response from dark blue sedan owner
I have owned it for about 4 years. I know the coupe is more popular, but the sedan is much more practical. My original plan was to rebuild it over time, but it spent the first two years in the shop having the repairs done all at once. Since then, I have taken it to car shows and cruised around a few times, but with COVID, there isn't really anywhere to take it. So, I figured it was time to move on.
The paint is not original, the previous owner painted it around 2014 - 2015.
The last few things are mostly cosmetic. It needs a headliner, weather seals on the windows, the steering wheel is cracked, the truck and hood need liners, and the seats are about 8/10. Also, the radio does not work, cruise control does not work, and the A/C works, but only blows on the floor.
Price is negotiable.

Coworker's Dad had a early/mid '70s Cad CD back in the early '80s. Said co-w took me for a ride in that car one afternoon. That car was absolutely the smoothest and most comfortable vehicle I'd ever ridden in up to that point, if not ever. Note: my dad and mom had a loaded 4dr '72 Mercury Marquis and a high school friend's dad/mom had '71 2dr Lincoln something or other. Both were, of course, high end American luxury cars. But that Cad CD was just a 1/2 step or so above imo. But hey, either Deville, coupe or sedan, would be great to own/drive.
...and the seats are about 8/10.
What's up with the random "x-apple-data-detectors://0" link on that? Extra super forum update weirdness?

Don't know

I'd hold out for a '68. It's the only one with the best engine (472/500) AND stacked quad headlights. So much more handsome than the '69 and up.

If you know where to find a rust free , clean, driver, let me know
ready to buy
Looking forward to getting the family 1967 Coupe D'eVil Convertible. It's in a barn trapped by WAY too much crap.

yeah, I know it's a vert. But I wouldn't roll any other way in an old Caddy.
You still looking? $4k for a black 1973 four door hardtop Deville with a pretty decent interior.

I vote coupe, but that's probably because Dad had a whole string of Coupe De Villes from 63 to 74. At one time he had a 73 and a 74 at the same time.

That is intriguing. Not sure I'm ready for another giant GM car. Or maybe it is time. Love the black w/white top.

No engine or trans so it's ready for that Jaguar V12 swap and at $1k there's lots of room left in the budget. Plus: flames and fins.

You got me mixed with frenchy ;)
C'mon, V12 Cadillac!
Engine swaps have to be easy in these, it's the sort of engine bay where you climb in to guide the engine into place and I believe by 1970 they were using standard GM transmissions so there should be some room in the tunnel unlike my '66. Grab a truck 6.0 and a (mumbles because he doesn't know automatic transmission names) and you could be cruising by April.
Would love a v12 caddy but I need another project like you need a new wife ;)
I have the 5.3 swap in the Impala I just sold - just don't want to deal with swaps anymore - old and tired now
I need a driver. Thanks for looking out though
