Anyone know anything about '70s-'80s Mercedes automatics?
Working on cleaning out some of my dad's old stuff and he's got this spare trans from a late '70s SL. Code on the side is R 115 271 2901 and I can find similar codes ut not that one. Just trying to decide if it needs to go to the junkyard or it's actually worth trying to sell.
If it was out of a 450sl, it'd be a 722.0 per the lookup on wittrans. I had to guess at model to get something sl in the 70's.
There should be another number on the other side, like posted above probably starts with 722. That number will tell you what it's from.

That 722.XXX number should be stamped on a flat spot above the pan rail.

After a littl emore scrubbing I found the ident on the other side
So I think 722.1
109 270 1701 is a 722-001, so it's from a 450 (all of them, SL SEL SLC). The rest of the numbers are just the serial. As far as value, no clue, but now you know what to google :)
Value would be $200-$500. Not a lot of people looking for these trans, they're not rare.

Sounds like it's going on marketplace for $150 and I'll take $100 and never even have to lift it.

I'll give you a half-eaten order of avocado toast for the trans if you deliver to 48187. I know what I've got.

I bite off all the corners.
