So, today was a recuperation day after 4 days at Disney with the family in Florida heat.  Absolutely brutal.  Heat was a 10/10, do not recommend that aspect.  Kids were mostly great, some minor melt downs which is to be expected.

As we lounged on the couch we BS'd about what she might want.  Turns out the "80s" part isnt necessarily strict.  So we wandered through and i got some feedback.

An '80 Spitfire was "too sporty" for her to love, but she liked it.

SN95 Mustang 'verts made the cut.

VW Rabbits were near the top of the heap.

F-Bodies were meh

Sadly she loved most every LeBaron and Cutlass I showed her.  No accounting for taste.

Absolutely loved a '13 Fiat 500.

'89 325i got approval

'95 Geo Tracker on stock tires worked, but the lifted knobby ones didn't.

Loved the NB Miatae I showed her.

Was intrigued by the '91 Merc Capri

Thought the BMW Z3 on the board was too sporty (although her mama liked it.)

Audi TT was liked, but not loved

Found a couple 60s Bonnevilles that she loved

70s MG was cute, but kinda eh.

If parts  and ease of service were the same I would rather see her in a BMW cabrio than a Rabbit cabrio , just more metal around her.

And I loved my Rabbit Cabrio the summer I drove it :)

Rabbit has a roll bar which depending on the type of accident might be an advantage too though.

Funny how that works. My wife will occasionally express interest in a certain car or car style and I'll go nuts with it planning out getting one and then I'll show her a couple examples and it's "meh" and it turns out what she liked was the deck lid spoiler or just the color or whatever.

Good luck with the ..purchase!

Out of all those cars on the list, I think the Miata would be the least trouble, both with the car and with teenage driving. I would be scared to put any of my kids in a Mustang, yours might be ok.

Probably very few left at this point, but a Turbo II GTC would actually be kinda cool.
