Apparently my HOA beleives that I am operating a commercial body shop from my garage. I'd like to take that as a compliment, but they haven't seen the paint up close.
I received a certified letter today stating "We have been notified that you are running a body shop from your home. The existence or operation of business activity cannot be apparent or detectable by sight, sound, or smell from outside the unit." I suppose someone complained when the other Hongers were here grinding and sanding with me in the driveway as that's the only time the car has really been outside of the garage. Busybodies FTL. Sanding dust in the garage sucks.
As a side note, I make it an objective to have everything quiet (not that anything is loud, except maybe Maximus) and cleaned up before dark. Meh, all in a day's work .
All in all, the Tracer runs and drives. Only a few odds and ends remain. See you guys soon!
Rat bastards. I would've guessed "death-metal bar that serves only natty light and vodka tonics" over "body-shop." Whatever. Make them prove you're running a business...or maybe next time I'm over I can do a friendly door to door survey to find the rat.

They called you on the wrong one. That one's easy to beat. Ask them to show you one receipt from a "customer".
Hobbies are legal. My hobby shop is twice the size of many people's houses.
However, what they should have called you on was property maintenance code with some gobbeldy goop about unregistered, untagged, or non-running vehicles. That one's a little harder.
Why do 30 minute jobs on my Jetta take 5 hours to complete? 5 hours to install an axle yesterday and I'm so close to driving it out of the garage under its own power. Fighting the ball joint, camber plate, stiff suspension. I hope I can walk next week, I'm sore.
Maybe tonight AFTER baseball we'll get it done.

I hear ya. I think I'm in a little worse shape than you, at least you've driven your car. I haven't even heard mine run yet, well, not in the last four years or so.
Funny, I don't feel rushed at all... Maybe it has to do with the fact that my Challenge car was crushed a week ago ;)

I didn't run it very long.

That has Wayne written all over it.
Anyway, I have the final parts in primer and hope to have everything covered with the final spray by Saturday night. So far, I have a list of 32 items (that will likely grow) that need to be completed, mostly small, but enough to consume the weekend. That doesn't include setting up the suspension. All in all, it looks like that I might actually finish this in time. I surely jinxed myself with that comment, however.

You should probably drop her off at the hospital.
Damn you. I wanted to be the one to make the trans sexual joke.
I put a battery(albeit a very weak one) in the rabbit for the first time in 4 years. I was shacked that the fuel pump wasn't locked up from sitting and the gas actually seemed fairly fresh! My homemade fuel rail works great, but I do have one tiny fuel leak to fix. I'm almost done assembling my Megasquirt ECU. I'm hoping to make it run this weekend. If not, I may be bribing Johnny Pruit into helping me with the Megasquirt. I'm Mega-retarded.

That's why I kept the CIS for this year. I flat ran out of time for MegaSquirt.
The Jetta is outside the garage for the first time in 2 years. It ran under it's own power, stopped, and idled for over an hour. The lifter noise is gone also. Filling the NOS bottle after work today. AND my 4 day trip was cancelled this morning so we can go to the drags on Sunday. This is a good day and will continue into a good weekend.
I had picked up some 17" Flik wheels for the Jetta at the junkyard last week and rolled it out on them. It looks like a donk. I think we'll be doing the concourse with the pimp wheels, otherwise it just looks like an old Jetta. Hey, it's something right? I'll post some pics when I get home. I don't think I've posted any of the car since the day I brought it home.
What ever happened to the "Weezley Rabbit" guy, or what ever his name was? The one with the bad ass flared out 16v turbo rabbit? Wonder if that car is going to make it.

After a VERY long weekend, my car moved on it's own power today. Barely.
Ran like crap in every way possible. No brakes, clutch not releasing, engine won't idle, trans linkage binding badly, suspension cocked, car sitting 1" higher on one side than the other, turbo spooling weird, water leaking, overheating, etc. etc. etc.
Oh, and it still looks like crap.
I can (and will) sort it out, but I'm not sure I can before Thurs. I'm tired.
I may be shagging cones.
Don't feel bad, I may be with you.
