I am rebuilding the bottom end, bored, decked, crank ground. The cam bearing surface shows some wear and a raised area where the oil passages are. The bearing surface is part of the Al head.

I don't want to put the head back on the rebuilt block if it is spewing material into the oil. Should I reman or hope it will be fine.

D series heads are so cheap I would not go to the trouble of rebuilding a motor without picking up a head casting with good bearing surfaces.
