About two years ago, I put a set of flyin Miata vmax coil overs on my 91. I've been busy, and this is a 4th car, so I haven't had time to get to making it right, but the car is sitting way too low. Going by the middle of the wheel to fender measurement, it's sitting at about 12.25" in the front and about 12" in the rear,
I've maxed out the coil perches to the top, which just makes it bouncy. It did stop the tires from hitting the fenders, though. I'd like to raise it up by about an inch so I can have the perches in the middle of the range (where they're supposed to be), and so the steering will play a bit nicer.
I know the NA top hats are about an inch taller, and I happen to have an NA Miata sitting next to this one that needs to be lowered by about an inch... Has anyone swapped top hats from Na to Nb?
Okay, I think the documentation changed or something, because now they say in the website that this should be in the range for ride height..
Do you need to roll fenders to just use the vmax setup on stock sized tires?
I don't think you should need to roll for stock wheels/tires.
Might need a flat roll with some of the current 15x8 w/ 205/50 high performance setups.
I have the same setup on a 90 with 15x7 205-50/15 and no interference problems. I'm nowhere near the top of the range with the perches either. Sounds like something is wrong to me - check your install? Fronts installed in the back and vice versa maybe? I don't even know if that's possible
The ride height sounds correct although you really don't want it raked backwards. Are you sure you installed the springs properly?
You really should not need to roll the fenders to fit stock wheels and tires even lowered. Like cmcgregor I've fit 15x7s on a 90 with 205s while lowered and no roll is necessary at all and you don't even hit the fender liners. I would call FM if you are having trouble setting it up.
I put VMaxxes on my last Miata (now owned by bgkast) and could run 15x7 with 205/50 with no interference or fender rolling. Something's amiss.
Yeah, I have pictures into then in an email. I'll let you know what they say, thanks!
Are you running stock wheels? If not, what width & offset wheels are you running?
Did you forget the tender springs?
They are the smaller springs
I don't think it's possible to forget the smaller springs, is it? :) Good question, though..

Yep, 100% stock daisies, so that means, 195/55 R14 (I think, it's been a few years since I bought tires for it)..
I have V-Maxx XXtreme coilovers on my '04 and my ride is set at 12.25"F and 12.75"R. The car is on 205/50-15s on 6UL wheels. I have no rubbing under any conditions.
