Any experiences, suggestions or caveats? I'm looking at a one just down the road, but know squat about them.

(It's a 5-speed, two door if that helps...)

Thanks, Stan

I seem to remember them winning some kind of "most fun to drive new car" back in the day. I built a half dozen of them from salvage maybe 10-12 years ago. I never had one of the 16 valve ones, just the cheapppy 12 valver examples. nice and simple cars. never had much trouble with them at the time. oil burners like most mitsu's that age.

It's certainly a simple little car. I was surprised at just how much room there was in the engine bay.

Any good boards to go to and have a look-see?

Only car I've ever won an autocross in. Bone stock too. I had so many plans for mine but then the firewall cracked due to my hackjob auto->manual swap (worked fine for two years, but I should have added reinforcement where I drilled a hole for the clutch cable), so I parked and later sold it (it had other issues.)

Fun little machine. Definitely lots of potential. Mitsis of that era can swap a lot of parts around with little or no hassle.

I really, really, really want a Proton Satria GTi, which is the same car built under license, only in hatchback form, with a wicked ground-effects kit, MIVEC engine, and Lotus handling tune. Drool.

Add Recaro interior to that list. (Also a Satria GTi fan.)

I'm already on the mirage forums (I bought the car) and they've been helpful there.

The car has been great. Started when it was -15, went through snow and my lowest mpg was over 30. 36 has been the best so far and I haven't touched it.

Now it looks like I'm going to have to do a search for "Proton Satria GTi". I'll probably want one...

thanks, Stan
