The aspire died today, and I was SERIOUSLY looking at this as a replacement. I just don't think I can drop 15 grand without missing it...

That thing is amazing... Ive never been a particularly big fan of them in general (never been around them, though), but i dare say that thing is probly worth the 11k its going for right now..

But, i would disagree with the article linked, because i WOULD just sit on it and preserve it. To me the suggestion to rallycross the thing is just plain stupid. There will always be cheap, beat up cars to rallycross with, even all-tracs. The ONLY thing seperating this All-trac from the rest is condition, so to risk that which you paid $8k extra for on something that has no return other than about 30 minutes of fun in the seat, is just plain stupid.

I've been watching it.

I bet it hits an easy $15k.

I live in Marietta, if anyone else needs me to look at it for them, let me know. There is one more day!

(beware that if I look at it, I may end up buying it out from under you....)

I feel like i should point something out....

The condition is NOT the only separating this car.

This is a 1993. One of 81 EVER imported to North America. It's widely accepted that less than 50 live today. There's a chance that this car has a Torsen rear, and it comes with EVERY available option that could ever be had throughout the run. If you want an Alltrac for any reason, this is the one to get.

And i wouldn't feel bad about flogging this thing, at all. Just a car. Parts can be replaced. And i certainly wouldn't leave it stock.

I don't know that I'd want to cut one up that clean. At the very least I'd swap out as much of the numbers matching stuff I could and mothball it, in the event I ever wanted to turn it back to stock. I suspect when Japanese cars become true collectibles like Mopars in America, this is going to be close to the top of the heap.

93celicaGT2, everything you said makes it an even worse idea to rally the thing. Sure, you can bolt and unbolt lots of stuff.. as long as the holes still line up. But plenty of things CAN and WILL happen that will preclude the car EVER being put right again.

I once flipped and totalled a rock crawler built cj5 that was worth as much as that cars going for when something went wrong when i was going 30 mph in a straight line on level pavement with noone around.

I think racing that car would be spending a lot of money for the world to teach you murphy's law.

That's the cleanest 93 anything I think I've ever seen.

You're probably right... but i'd just be thinking the whole time: "Man, this is a solid pretty much brand new AllTrac! Perfect clean slate that i won't have to spend a butt-ton of money getting to the point where it's ready to be modified!"

That said... i think the AllTrac community must be broke. That car went for way less than i thought it would. 93s with almost 100k miles in condition not as nice as that were going for $10k a year or two ago. I wouldn't have been surprised at a $20k selling price for that thing.

But here's where i stick my neck out, and may get beheaded:

I'm not in love with Alltracs. They're heavy. Almost 1000lbs heavier than my current Celica. I hate weight. To be brutally honest, despite the FWD vs. AWD discussion, at the end of the day, for a car to have fun in, i'd rather my 92 Celica GT. For less money, i'll stomp the HELL out of that car in almost any situation, plus there's way less to go wrong in my car, and a clutch replacement won't book over 20 hours of labor.

There, i said it.
