I finally got back around to working on my neon again and am finding out that whoever put this thing together after the motor swap did a pretty sloppy job.

Here's the deal. There's only two things I lack before the car is in halfway decent working order. The windows won't roll up and down and the radio doesn't work.

Obviously an electrical problem somewhere because I know that all this stuff is in working order it's just not getting any juice. So, to find out where the short was I started with a wire connected from the battery to a little half fuse I rigged up to put in the relays in the fuse box. Assuming that if it was between the battery and the box they would come on if I hit the right fuse. No such luck.

What I did find out was that some of the fuses did nothing. Pulled the fuse box and found that some of the wires don't even have anything running from the other side. Some have a hot wire going into a fuse but nothing that it's running. Some have the opposite. It's all a bit confusing as I was hoping for some relief from the madness once I pulled the fuse box.

So, I guess while writing this I decided that what I should do is find out which wires are hot and which wires are waiting for juice and start matching them up and putting high voltage fuses on them, or I could just back door the whole freakin thing.

What do you guys think? I really need a diagram telling what fuses are supposed to go to what, but the fuse box cover is missing. If someone knows which fuses are which could you please tell me? If I could know which ones are supposed to go to the radio and the windows that would prolly be a big help. Especially if someone knew how the wires were color coded. Any suggestions would help.

To be honest. Writing this out has been a pretty good brainstorming session and I think I know what its gonna take to fix it now, but any constructive criticism would sure help.

Sorry if this is just a bunch of rambling.

The radio / interior fuse is underhood in the PDC / fusebox.

ok, that helps. I've figured out a screwy light issue since I last got on though. both lights would only turn on if the brights were on. Now I've got them working like they should. Ok, well, I guess I'm gonna wire all that up correctly and move back to under the hood with my fancy little test light. I'll keep you guys posted.

Well, got the headlight situation figured out and the inside fuse box back together and on. Moved back to the problem at hand with the power windows. Underneath the hood everything seems fine. I recently changed that fuse when I got the car a few months ago, and according to the test light juice seems to be running through it fine. So, therefore my problem is between the fuse box and the radio/power windows. Any direction on where I should look from there? I guess I'm going to try and take that fuse box apart to figure out which color wires I'm looking for at least.

power window/ interior wire = pink with black stripe

go under dash and there is a connector with a bunch of wires in it. it has pink with black stripe wire. when it put the test light to the connections there is no power. electrical frustration at it's finest.

The connector I'm talking about has about 20 wires that run through it. It's just above the obd ii box under the dash. None of them are showing up hot. So, I'm afraid I'm not actually getting a reading from them (maybe not a good enough ground even though I ran a wire from the ground on the battery). If there were 20 wires that were all dead I would assume the car would have alot more problems than a windows, locks, and radio not working.

As soon as I feel like I'm starting to figure this thing out it just gets more confusing! I will not let this neon beat me!

Tracing wires without a schematic is working blind without a net. Get at least a Haynes to guide you through it. A FSM is ideal, but a Hanynes wil get yo through well enough.
