I just scored a set of 18" turbo twists that I'm going to put on my Boxster. They have a 993 PN and came off of a 996 so the backspacing in the rear is way off. I'm finding mixed info online about what size spacer I need to run. The Boxster spec is ET47 and these are ET65. So math says 18mm but there's some people online saying that isn't enough. They recommend 20-21mm. I would really like these to fit as Porsche intended (ish). Anyone have some experience here?

What width? If they're the same as stock, your math is right. If they're wider, you may need more spacer. My 17x9 twists needed a 3mm spacer to not rub the wheel lip on the strut housing. Not exactly sure how the offset on those compared to the stock wheels though.

If you want to experiment there is an adjustable spacer kit for about $150.00. When you have figured out exactly what you need, order the correct spacers and return the kit for a fee for up to 1 1/2 years or keep it or re-sell it. This is my plan. If interested I can look it up but just popping in right now so it would have to be later.

18mm will put it equal to stock which is why people say 21. The stock 986 fitment is a little weak.

I've seen the spacer kits and that is an option but I'm hoping to keep this as budget friendly as possible. These were sort of an impulse buy so cheap is the name of the game here.

The rears are 18x10. I found a figment chart ( for a S, I imagine they would be the same) and the 10" is in there but with the 47mm offset. I have no experience with this stuff so I'm not sure if it's as straightforward as adding an 18mm spacer.

Edit: just saw the other posts. I'll check the website.
the extra thickness makes sense for looks. I'm nervous about bearing wear and handling stuffs so stock is best for me.

I hate replacing wheel bearings. Hate it.

I ran 18x10 ET58 Carrera III's on the back of a Cayman with 7mm spacers.

911s got the 10 inch wheels. Boxsters and Caymans could be ordered with 9s.

an extra 3-5mm isn't really going to have an effect on bearing life. If you're going to the effort and expense of getting spacers anyway,I don't think there's much reason to not go with the option that gives you a little bit of extra clearance and probably looks better. I would have gone thicker on my wheels, but I was also keeping it on a budget and 3mm was all I was comfortable running with the stock wheel bolts.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably go with 20mm spacers then.
It looks like the most economical ones are from ECS. If I can find wheel bolts for reasonable price it looks like H&R makes a nice set as well.

I had 911 wheels on mine.  I took it as an opportunity to upgrade to wheel studs.

I can't remember what size spacer I used unfortunately.
