I found a Hyundai Elantra for $800 ... I tried asked for carfax or history or even condition of title and they didn't tell me... They said it is $800 and it runs good... Tell me thoughts of how much I should offer or if the car would even be worth it ? trying to buy my brother a car so he doesn't have to feel like he has to rely on others for rides to places. http://www.carsforsale.com/used-cars-for-sale/1995-hyundai-elantra-councilbluffs-ia-229776150

Its a running car for $800. Who cares what the carfax says, at that price point it is irrelevant. Check it over carefully and look for all the usual cheap car problems (Rust, tires, sludge, blown headgasket etc...)

My niece just rolled a Hyundai Elantra. The junk yard gave her $500 for it. So if you take out the eventual scrap value of the car, its only a $300 car. If it runs and can get an inspection sticker......

if you buy your brother the car, then he is relying on you for a ride... show it to him and let him figure out how to buy it for himself..
At that price don't worry about a carfax, just check it over for obvious problems. Don't let the guy who runs the lot distract you while checking.
It's an $800 car. Don't expect too much from it, and don't expect massive amounts of haggling room.
The listing picture looks like it has snow on the roof. If so, it's been sitting there for a long time. $980 in the listing.
In any case, it's all pointless hand flapping until you actually go there and check the car out directly.
