The weather has not been cooperating recently, but I was able to snag a few pictures of the RX-7 before it started raining again.

And now, some pictures of the damaged interior:

As you can see, the steering column cover and ignition were damaged. The horn relay went kaput, so a second horn was rigged up with a doorbell on the dash as a horn button. I resoldered the relay today, as well as the brake light relay (that one went out on me right after I got the car. Luckily, the shop I went to for inspection caught it before they inspected it). Now that the stock horn is working again, I'll remove the second horn. Interior 01

Center console damage. Note the Razo shift knob so I'm not tearing up my hand on the shifter threads. Interior 02

This is the wiper switch the P.O. jury-rigged up when the wiper switch relay shorted out. I'm working on resoldering the original switch. Jury-rigged wiper switch

Nice! Scruffy interior aside, that looks pretty good.

Have you fixed the sloppy shifter?

Not yet. I plan on putting in an eBay short-throw shifter, but that's near the bottom of my priority list for now. Brake lights were top priority until I fixed them today because part of the agreement with my parents for letting me keep the RX-7 is that it be inspected and road-legal.
Thermostat is priority 1 now that the brake lights work, then bearings, then oil pan gasket. I can't work on those until it stops raining, so I'm focusing on electronic problems for the time being. The rest of the interior can wait.

Good progress so far. That color combo is a dead ringer for my first RX-7 (86 GXL). I'm jealous!
