As the title says what's an oddball or truely hideous car you may have lusted to modify.
There are several but the one that comes to mind for me is the Dodge Rampage. I'd love to do all the suspension upgrades and then boost the motor till the head basket pops like Mount Vesuvius.

I'd love to make a hot rod out of a sharknose Graham, but they're hella rare. They look sweet.
Olds Alero 2 door.
Mainly because when I see this
I see a little of this
I will allow that I have spent far, far more time than is healthy thinking about how I could make an Alero awesome. They have rather large wheelwells, at least if you are mainly concerned about 65cm rally tires. Pretty sure there are decent AWD trans options for the Ecotec engine, and if not, well, AWD 3SGTE drivetrains are still fairly cheap. How hard could it be.
...in hindsight, this is probably the only car ever where I like the two door better than the four door, if the chassis was made both ways.
In reply to Pete. (l33t FS) :
I never noticed how much a 2-door Alero looks like a mid 90s prelude.

I would look at stretching a C5 Vette under this thing. Twin turbos to be decided.
Would make for some weird ackerman.
I've always wanted to get an Izusu Vehicross, turbo, lower it, big aero, widebody.
Turn it into a hillclimb monster.
Since I am the king of owning very modified classically styled cars I should not be here but a my example of a modified C2 corvette. I think it looks better with the flairs and arched fenders

C3 corvette but...strosek/gemballa. and turbofans
BMW has already done it for me...
I really want to make one of the E36 M3ty WV kit cars a capable HPDE or autocrosser. I know the Bradley GT made it to the challenge and that was fantastic. Anything from gazelle to sterling. Not in a point in my life to take it on but something like making the free Europa and finishing it would be great too.
In reply to johndej :
A Kelmark or Bradley GT is one I always wanted to make track capable.
When you window the block up front, put a motor in the back, like this one that was on Hot Rod Power Tour this year.:
1948 Reo Speedwagon dump truck.
I already race a vintage S-klasse so I've already made a bad choice here.
I would love to do a Jeep YJ road racer

Ugh, I'm not sure Any mod could make one of these something I'd want.

I mean.....there's a reason I drove across the country to get the old Challenge Rampage. They are berkeleying cool!
Other weird cars I wanna find and screw with: AMC Eagle 4 door or 2 door, and a Datsun b210 hatchback. The later would probably get an engine transplant
In reply to Antihero :
No need to motor swap the B210; turbo A-series motors will easily put out 175-200hp at the wheels.
B210s only weigh 1800lbs and a turbo motored car would be pretty rapid. All of the suspension mods are also well documented.

Install a 4.7 stroker or a 4.0 HO Turbo and a modern Jeep transmission and you'll have a good time. I've only seen one in real life, but a hotted up Eagle Sundancer would be dope
Take a 2003-2007 Ford E-150 cargo van with the 5.4L. Build a monster supercharged 5.4L and pair it with a built 4R70W transmission. Tub the rear and widen the stock rear wheels. Weld in bracing in the cargo area. Keep the exterior as stock looking as possible. Enjoy an 800hp contractor van. I think it would be the most hilarious thing ever.

Maybe but I would love to swap something ridiculous and v8 into it for fun. It's been done before but I think it would be fun as hell.
My mom had 2 when I was growing up too so I have a soft spot for them

Funny story, before that was a cool orange mid engine Rampage it was on a little lot in Spokane. It was brown on brown and had a camper shell. It was cheap and I had the cash on hand.
My wife really didn't like it so I didn't buy it. I wish I did

I'm thinking more 4x4 off road for all that Idaho throws at you but otherwise....I agree
