My 12V Refrigerator died. It was showing a HH code on the controller which I assumed was the thermistor having failed. I pulled the cover, and underneath was two sets of thermistor wires. I hooked up the other set and the unit started reading temperatures again. It just ran down to 31 degrees and shut off like it should. Success.

Now I'm on the hunt for a spare thermistor. It shows a probe type of 3380 5K. I can't find anything similar on the interwebs. I can find a 3380 10K. I assume that would not work because it would be out of range. Am I correct. How would I go about finding a thermistor that would work? Would any 5K ohm thermistor work?

Thanks.

Allen.

I can tell you that using a 10K thermistor there would work improperly if at all, and that is indeed difficult to find the 5Kohm version.

I can usually find someone on ebay with a good reputation who sells anything.  Price and shipping charges are usually unbeatable.

Wouldn't putting a pair of 10k thermistors in parallel work as a 5k?  Assuming the difference is just needing half the resistance, that is.
