Looks like my HF strut spring compressor is not up to the task of rear struts on a Civic. It looks like the arms are spread too far to be able to hook on and compress that puppy. Any thoughts on home units that will not break the bank?

Which HF spring compressor? They've had several different designs over the years. I have this one, it doesn't suck.

I have that also. It sort of sucks. It is based on a version that had proper clearances and did not bind up. But of course the HF version is close but not right. And did I mention it binds up on compression? But I digress. I don't think that the HF compressor will crank down small enough to do the Civic rear strut. (I guess I did not mention that the car is a 2001 Civic 4d and I need to do rear struts...)

I have this compressor and used it to do all four struts on my 03 Civic a couple months ago.
