Duh...for some reason my brain was stuck in TR6 not 4.
so an 8.8 with a 3.27 is an easy button for you.

Yes. Expect a "how to shorten an 8.8" thread from me in the future.

Of coarse if you want a V8 you can get a Jag V8 which is all aluminum and pretty compact. They go up to 550 horsepower stock. I haven’t looked at prices. But I’ve seen them in wrecking yards where the engine is the only thing left that’s not smashed up from the accident.
Probably take me a whole afternoon to make an adapter plate for a T 5.

If you get the explorer axle, can you use the fact that the pumkin is offset and get away with shorteing only the one side and using two short axles?

This is why I haven't started the build thread yet. Easily distracted...
Note to self, SBF. SBF. SBF.

Great information in that link. Gonna take me a bit to fully understand it all.
Thanks for posting.

Did you get my email about your XJR?
There's a lineage linking the Ford Duratec and Mazda K with the Jag S-Type V6 right? Reference "Jag S-type powered Miata."
My vote is Ford/Mazda/Jag V6.
SBF T5 is a popular swap over at http://www.britishv8.org/Photos-Triumph-Conversions.htm. Carbed SBF oughta make a conservative 300hp or more w/ aftermarket. Or, EFI for reliability. Oughta be budget friendly.
LS T56 too. http://www.britishv8.org/Triumph/CalvinGrannis.htm 408hp/ 390ft-lbs
Been following that site for years now wanting to build but looks like a retirement project now.
In reply to Indy-Barely Functional-Guy :
I did not. Resend it
What’s that 2.0L V6 that Mazda sold abroad? Sounds awesome.
If you can stand to tear yourself away from British, the GM pushrod 60 deg. V6 family has a lot of options, all the way from older style cast iron head versions to modern alloy head engines with modern management systems.
This is mine, a 3.4 Camaro engine (1995) in a 1956 MGA (body is modded, in case you notice the lack of MG body bits). Would fit your TR nicely .

Stick with the I6. perhaps an S52 from the E36m3?
TR4s had four cylinder engines. You might be thinking TR6.
In reply to Indy-Barely Functional-Guy :
Indy,
My friends and I are embarking on the same project as the and we are starting the search for the engine and trans as well.... I'd love to collaborate with you if you don't mind! But it won't let me direct contact you
In reply to canopygrl :
Well if you're not going to power your TR4 with a canoe, we can just collaborate here on the forum.
I've had a lot of luck with a 2.0 Turbo Ecotec in my old British car. The engine fits in a 24"x24"x24" cube and makes about 325 hp on 91 octane with all stock parts.

So, how's the swap going? What did you end up picking?

See you in a couple of days.
Reminder, there was a free Rodeo available in North Georgia, he may now be selling it.
