Ok looks like most aftermarket knobs are listed as M12 x 1.25. Guess I'll go with that unless someone says otherwise.
Retap it in SAE. Render it unstealable when you remove the knob.

Only problem is I'm putting it in a 65 Mustang. Here's the mock up for the adapter to 3/8ths 16.

Actually kinda what I was looking for before until I decided to hit Ace Hardware and redneck it. I think the redneck version will be more compact and in my mind's eye at least look better.
