Following news that Acura and Team Penske will cut ties after this year, Acura has just announced plans to run two of its ARX-05 DPi Prototype Race Cars for the 2021 racing season.

Instead of fielding both cars under one banner, two separate teams—Wayne Taylor Racing and Meyer Shank Racing—will run one prototype each.

Very cool news. It'll be sad to see more of the Cadillacs disappear and I'm guessing we might not see an NSX next year either.

Agreed, good news. Good testing opportunity for Meyer Shank since they're only an hour from TRC, HRA-O(where HPD and HART members located) and Mid-Ohio.

Interesting news. I did not hear any reason given for the Acura Penske split (I may have missed it) so I have to wonder why they split. Penske is a/the top of the line outfit, not saying Wayne Taylor isn't good, but this doesn't seem like a step up for Acura. Did Penske initiate the split with the whole IndyCar thing?

I won a visit to Meyer Shank a few years ago in a charity auction for animals.  Tour of the facility, the whole facility, and meet the people, plus free swag at the end.  They let me bring a few friends so I invited whoever was available, ended up with a couple AX friends.

The owner was very cool, let us geek out over all the cars and wander everywhere.  We all got winter caps and nice jacket/shirt/something (can't describe really) swag that they had just introduced.  I like having a "home team" to root for, never really got into sportsball.

MSR has already announced it will continue to support the NSX program next year for anyone who wants to pick up a turnkey, championship contending race program.  Good on them.
