Alright, so maybe this isn’t the next-gen RSX some had hoped for, but let’s push that aside–at least for a moment–and see what Acura has in store.
Based on the Acura Performance EV Concept displayed back in August during Monterey Car Week, the new RSX represents three firsts for the brand: The first model to be developed on Honda’s new …

Kind of related: One of the easiest ways to sell a movie idea to a Hollywood executive nowadays? Attach a franchise to it–essentially, "something familiar, but different."
as long as they make the rear suspension completely useless and terrible it'll be accurate to its lineage.

Kinda weird, never felt anything for the RSX name other than "USDM Integra."
And how is it using "ASIMO OS" if it doesn't transform into an android?

Does this mean that the RSX has joined the ranks of 4,000+ pound "sport" compact cars?
If we're talking about it, then their plan worked--we'd have never cared if they'd called it the ABCDX or whatever their naming convention is these days.
Does it matter? Probably not.
Does it hurt me somewhere deep in my high-school brain that lusted after an RSX? Yep.
Wahhhhh.

I think the term is "pork" compact.
Hey Honda is possibly merging with Mitsubishi. A company who called a crossover an Eclipse from the sports coupe, so it totally makes sense. Mitsubishi is already having an impact!

My first thought. That's really the last company they should be taking inspiration from. What does Mitsubishi even make? I know they make nice VRF AC systems, but cars? Nah
Similar to Ford sticking the Mustang and Capri names on a large 4-door EV blob.
Really loving this situation.

its the way marketing seems to do things nowadays; bastardize nameplates...like Mustang. Or, maybe just add Turbo to the nameplate, a la Porsche
I'm giving car companies a lot of leeway on naming things these days.
The industry appears to be in pretty bad shape.
If Honda calling this thing an RSX allows them to keep making other fun cars as well as spare parts for 30 year old Acuras, well, so be it.

Mitsubishi makes basically everything. The problem is that they lost interest in cars.
I'm with CrustyRedXpress on this one. If this enables Honda to keep making cool stuff I'm fine with it.
Side note: Does anyone besides Ford actually use the Mustang part of the Mustang Mach-E? Everyone I've spoken to about one just calls it a Mach-E.
Idk, would calling it the Integra Cross be better? EVX?
Eh, the name on this one doesn't bother me much. Acura brought back the Integra, which was replaced by the RSX back in the day, and there's no room for two sporty compacts in their brand lineup. That said, I do really like the old RSX Type S quite a bit. Always thought that was a great looking car. A coworker used to have one in that cool burnt orange color with the big wing on it, and it was a fun car at the time.
What DOES bother me are the trend of tall crossovers dressed as sedans. This thing, the Mach-E, the BMW X6, etc... they all just irk me and seem useless. But I don't have to buy them, so there's that.

You know, that's a really good point.
Like Don said, they could have just as easily called it the Integra Cross.

Mitsubishi? I thought it was Nissan?
Of all the nameplates that this sort of thing has been done to......
I approve of this one the most. 'RSX' was just a crappy name from the depths of the early alpha-numeric-car-naming days. They gave us a good integra that's a proper car.

Nissan owns 24% of Mitsubishi Motors. Which is the controlling stake.
It was 34% but Mitsubishi bought back 10% at the start of November.
