I have the opportunity to acquire a E34 Touring. It has issues mostly related to bodywork (and it may well become my Learn How To Paint project) but is basically complete. It even runs.
This is allegedly the Nikasil engine...I figure either the short block has been replaced or it's survived this long that it's not an issue.
Gentlemen and ladies, might I have your thoughts on the subject, please?
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!! e34 wagons are very cool! I personally would buy one in an instant.

We love BMWs.

We love wagons.

We love cheap E36 M3ty cars.
Therefore we love this and hate you for scoring it instead of us
Got pics?
The two big issues with e34 tourings is the double sunroof can jam, and the wiring harness into the tailgate fatigues and breaks from flexing. Assuming it's a US car, it must be a 530?
530it . . . lucky son of a . . . I'm jealous!!
With the V8 things to look out for:
- Valve Cover gaskets
- PCV valve behind the intake manifold
- Oil pump bolts
- Aux water pump leaky
- Usual water pump and cooling system stuff
- Front suspension stuffs (FCP Groton, BMA parts, etc)
The V8 cars HATES vacuum leaks and will run like poo . . . Also if you begin to get random misfires or poor idle, check to make sure there is no oil pooling in the spark plug holes . . .
If it is a Nikasil car, I would drive it until it stops and not worry about it.

You are CORRECT, sir...
Thanks, all, for the tips and encouragement...it's abandoned and the repair facility is getting the title. After that she's mine, all mine.
Code name for this project is ELVIRA.
I'd rock one. Had a helluva ride in at a Road Atlanta track day once from an SCCA Prod driver who was instructing. There's some basic goodness in the E34 chassis, and the cool factor from the wagon.
