Sadly I need to replace the LT1 in my 92 C4. Corvette LT1s seem to be rare (most that I can find are from Camaros -- two-bolt main instead of four). I did find one, for a good price, but the MAP, fuel injectors, and wiring harness are fire-damaged. Shouldn't be an issue, since I have all of that on my ruined LT1.
Here's the question -- would you or wouldn't you -- the price is really good. The recycler is warranting it for the usual three months. The engine shows 150 PSI across all 8 cylinders.
I think it's a pretty safe bet if the price is good.
Are LSx's out of the budget?

I would imagine (especially since it's a Corvette) that he's just going for a stock replacement. (not a type-swap)
Clem
LSx c4 swap is one of the less easy ones due to heater box clearances and the lack of pioneers on the subject since most vette people are bone stock polo shirt wearing midlife crisis trading in their 50 for a pair of 25's guys.
coming from a vette owner in his 20's.
^ lol nice! Always wondered why you never see that swap done.
Oh well! lol
LT1 is LT1. You have aluminum or iron heads, choice of three cams, and interchangable ECMs. Get one from a Roadmaster and put your heads and cam in it.
Don't worry about chasing down the 4-bolt 'vette block. Its bad enough that iron-head LT1s are commanding top dollar, but waiting for a 4-bolt vette will cost you time and CERTAINLY a ton of money. Unless you're planning on 500+ hp, skip the 4-bolt
You can get a caprice lt1 in pick and pull for $200 for the longblock. They have raised the prices alot on the other parts, but it would still be under $500 for the whole thing.
I did it.
The yard sent pics -- nothing scary, and they were very accommodating on the price.
Now I have a set of LT1 aluminum heads to sell to someone, plus whatever remains of the long-block. Let me know if you want anything.
The LS1 would be a great swap -- but I don't currently have the resources, time, or space needed to make it effective. I think if you want an LS-powered Corvette, one is better off buying a C5.

That's why you never see LS1 C4's. C5's are so dang cheap there's no good reason too.
Good job on the motor buy btw, get it buttoned up in there and running before selling spares.
