The Mrs. loves her vans. Started out with a 2000 Odyssey (my first e-bay purchase, ever!), then an 05 Odyssey.  We sold that one and she drove my Ralliart wagon for a few years while we stabilized after our bankruptcy, then I bought her current DD, an 04 Sienna.

I'm done with Honda automatics, so I'm going to stick with the Toyotas.  Not interested in a Korean van, or Chrysler product. Tried to interest her in a Flex, as we both love wagons, but it turns out that sliding passenger doors are a non-negotiable requirement. So, we need a newer Sienna.

We're able to pay cash, but I need to start rebuilding credit, so I'm going to try to finance part of it, will check with both my bank and credit union (have accounts with both). Our bankruptcy hits the seven year mark next January, and we haven't borrowed a dime since the bankruptcy closed.

Only debt is student loans. I want to make a $7500 down payment and buy a van worth about 14-15. I know the interest rate will suck, but if I put half down and do the shortest term possible (likely 3 years, less if offered), hopefully it won't choke me.

A specific question: wasn't there a Sienna of recent vintage that had a slightly more performance oriented suspension?

General comments or advice would be welcome.

The Sienna SE is what you are looking for.. I think it was more of an apperance package.

I have a 2013...  no real complaints it's just a van.

We've borrowed newish Siennas for vacation travel, and while it's a bit portly for navigating parking lots, it glides down the highway with ease and comfort.  I'm not sure anything about the van is "performance oriented," but the 3.5 V6 does not lack for power.  The above-mentioned SE package does look sportier, but I'm not sure it goes beneath the skin.

If it's a van you're looking for, I'm not sure you can do any better than the Sienna.  Recommended.

Nothing to add other than we've been very happy with our 06 Sienna for the past 11+ years. Ours is the 3.3 litre, but still plenty of get up and go.
