Any Gold Wing folks on the forum? Or maybe I should have posted this under Sprockets. Anyhow, my sister is having to deal with her late husband's 1990 Honda Gold Wing with trike conversion. They used to take it for rides in the country, but then it was stored outside under a tarp for several years and not used. I put some gas in it and a new battery, and it turns over nicely but does not start. It is getting spark, but I don't know anything about Gold Wings, not even how to get in and check for fuel flow. I would like to get this thing running for her to sell. Can anyone point me to a good source for Gold Wing troubleshooting info?
Thanks!
You'll probably need to overhaul the carburetors if it was just parked with no prepwork.
Is it as simple as the fuel peacock being closed?
Check the petcock (and set it to prime if it's marked as such) but TBH you probably end tearing into the carbs.
I'd probably give the carbs a loving tap with a hammer handle or similar as a token gesture in case the float valves are stuck.
Lots of threads on the 'net with very similar conditions. If it were me, I'd drain the fuel bowls of anything remaining. Then, using the fuel supply, fill carbs back up with Seafoam and let it soak. Drain carbs and try again.
Also, the tank probably should've been cleaned of all old gas if it wasn't already.
Pull the air cleaner and Spray some starting fluid in and see if it fires up.
Bike carbs are really very simple. I'd tear them down unless it ran perfect anyway.
