I just noticed that an AE86 makes a cameo appearance in the new Corolla commercial, with Herbie Hancock playing in the background. Honestly, I was kind of surprised that Toyota even remembers that they made that car.

When I saw that I thought there was an old celica liftback in there too and was really impressed, but they I realized they were all corollas. Neat commercial though.
There are a few different versions showing different Corolla's of the past. notice how the car became a huge yawn once it went FWD?
They play that commercial about every commercial break on Velocity. I feel like I have seen it one hundred times today.

Wait, is it back on Netflix? It was gone for a long time and the kids and I were trying to get through it on YouTube. I love you sooooooo much right now!
I like the commercial quite a bit, as car commercials go. Now, whether it will have the intended effect, im not sure. But i like what they're TRYING to do.
Don't know why they didn't put in an ae92 for the 90's 'rolla. Instead it looks like some beige-tastic corolla sedan. Also, with every decade represented since the 60's the 00's are conspicuously absent - guess they didn't want that vanilla spoiling their flavorful commercial.

The Corolla is not supposed to be a stylish car, its supposed to be a car. I know this goes against the whole enthusiast deal, but the sooner you accept vanilla is sometimes the best flavor, the easier life becomes in that aspect. I daily drive a 99, its the most honest thing I've ever experienced. Goes from A-B with no fuss, comfortably and quietly, on a minimal amount of fuel, and as a bonus, likes to rev (for a stroker motor) and corners surprisingly flat and neutral, handles better than my friends imprezza wagon.
