I'm getting ready to order up some AFCO coilovers for the front of the C-Prepared Camaro, but I'm stumped on what the valving means. They list it like this:

comp/rebound 1/1 comp/rebound 2/2 comp/rebound 2/4 comp/rebound 3/3 comp/rebound 4/4

I have no clue what this means! Spring rates aren't final, but will be in the 900-1000lb range, if that makes a difference, but the shocks are more for mockup right now.

Thanks!

Call AFCO. They're very helpful.

^^^^ I should also mention that I'm not married to AFCO, they just seem to be the more popular brand, so if you have suggestions for other circle track (asphalt) brands I should look at, let me know.

Well, I've had some very long discussions with the AFCO engineers (including about an hour yesterday). So that wasn't a knee-jerk comment, they really are helpful people. I don't think I've ever dealt with another technical company that gave the same service. At the very least, get their specialized catalog for circle track. It has a setup guide in it that's pretty cool.

Keith,

You were actually the first guy I thought of when I started looking at AFCOs, so I know that wasn't knee jerk. I will definitely get the catalog, but I guess I was just after the quick and dirty answer. I suppose it doesn't matter much, as I learned those shocks are non-adjustable. The singles/doubles have a slightly different system to display valving.

Bilstein, Afco, Fox, Penske all give good advice to anyone, will sell single parts, and/or publish helpful manuals. Afco seems to really want to break out of the circle track and streetrod markets and have been making a big push over the last two years to attract others. I'd deffinately contact them and use their willingness to assist you with product choice and valving setup and other alternate valvings. See what it takes (tools and parts) to revalve them yourself.

1 softest, 8 stiffest valving....

the online catalog has a ton of info too, if you can read shock graphs...

Which ones are you looking at? I've got some 1020's sitting in the shed if you just need something for mockup...

I was also in your neck of the woods last friday... I need to pick your brain on 318ti stuff, I picked a boston green active up earlier this week for 100 bucks. It's even got an LSD!

You definitely don't want that LSD. I'll take it for you. Sending you a message about the shocks.

You'll need to log in to post.
